Default King Kong

I don´t think there was a thread about this so here we go. They´ve released a trailer for this one and I have to say it looks pretty interesting to me. At first I wasn´t too excited about the whole movie but after seeing the trailer, I changed my mind. You can see the trailer @ http://www.kingkongmovie.com/ef23952...de_splash.html

I know there's not a lot more they can do with it than update the original but I didn't like the look of it too much from the trailer, and I thought that WETA did a much better job on LOTR than they seem to on this, only based on the trailer obviously.

Yeah, well CG-stuff seen on trailer was incomplete so it should look even better once they get it finished.

Well hopefully they will make it better, perhaps they just made those shots for the trailer, they may not have done a lot on the final animation yet

I still think the single best/most realistic cg I've seen (in terms of a moving creature, backgrounds are good for most things now, Sin City being a good example) was the Velociraptors in the kitchen scene on the first Jurassic Park film. I haven't watched it for a while but I always remember thinking how realistic they looked on that. The animation on the whole film was good, but that scene in particular I thought was good.

99% of the time CGI just dosen't work, no matter how good it is, it always looks fake, that's one of the main reasons I hate Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings, they turn into cartoons and that just takes you straight out of the story and ruins it, because you can'y buy into it, you can't believe it, so game over.

CGI should never take over a scene, less is always vastly more, and should always compliment a scene rather then be the scene.

That's the main reason I think the trailer looks terrible. I was bored to death by LOTR so a movie made by Peter Jackson that looks remarkable similar to those ones visually obviously dosen't appeal to me. Add in Adrian Brody and a story about a giant ape and the only appeal left is Jack Black and the gorgeous Naomi Watts, and to be honest I'd rather watch The Ring and School of Rock again.

On another note, the best and most believable major CGI movie I've seen is "The Day After Tommorow" and "War of The Worlds" and probably because in the case of WOTW it's always in the background to what's happening to Ray and his kids.

I liked the original a lot and saw it many times, but i think what they did is really good .... we will see .... but i think it's worth the price as we said

I'd totally forgotten about this film until I saw a trailer before War Of The Worlds last week. Sat there watching Jack Black clambering around this jungle imagining him to fall over or make some joke. Then saw this giant gorilla and realised what it was. I'm looking forward to it very much.
