Default Pierce Brosnan: Bond No More?

Take this with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed but quite a few sources like The Chicago Sun-Times and The Herald Sun are reporting that Pierce Brosnan won't be invited to play 007 in the 21st James Bond movie. An anonymous source at Eon Productions says, "We will go back to the first days of Bond -- maybe even his first mission. We want to attract more young fans and we think that having a younger Bond will help. Pierce felt Roger Moore did one too many Bond movies and he wants to move on while he is still considered alongside Sean Connery".

Yeah, I heard about that too but thatīs not true. MGM and EON have confirmed that Brosnan will star in Bond 21.

Heard that Jude Law was being considered as the new Bond - I'd rather see Robbie Williams - LOL

Pierce Brosnan is sooo good as Bond. It's just not his fault that only two out of four movies are really good (Goldeneye & The World is not enough). Bond 20 was... well, everything but not 007. Still I hope he does at least one more movie (or maybe two), because I don't know anyone who can fill his shoes. It seems like he has all the qualities of the former bonds. Just too many explosions.

But one thing won't change for me: The best bond ever was Roger Moore! (I know that not too many people share this opinion, but... he's just cool! And he didn't do one too many: A Few to a Kill has its definite moments).

Well Pierce is my favourite Bond, and I've heard that he will do #21. After doing The World Is Not Enough he said that was his last, but then he did Die Another Day, and after that he said no more, so it could go on for a while.

He was actually aproached for the role in the 1980's, but felt he was too young at the time and refused it, hence how Timothy Dalton got it (personally I don't think he was as bad as everyone seems to think), but then he finally took the role with Goldeneye.

I think he'll at least do another one, if not another 2 or 3.

So we're already three, because my best friend is also a Roger fan. Some say he was cheesy, but in my eyes he got the best style, the best humor... and his movies are just the best!

Orlando Bloom in talks to take over from Pierce Brosnan as the next James Bond, claim UK tabloid newspaper...

UK tabloid newspaper The Daily Star claim to have a hot exclusive today. They `reveal` that "Lord of the Rings" star Orlando Bloom is set to be the new James Bond.

The rumour comes hot on the heels of Pierce Brosnan announcing on US television a few days ago that Bond 21 would be he fifth and final outing as 007.

The paper goes on: "Film producers are desperate to land the young Brit hunk, who played elf Legolas in the Rings trilogy, as the next 007. And they are understood to have lined up meetings to get their man.

A spokesman for Orlando, 27, said that "no decision has been made" about him taking the role. But a source said: "They are pulling out all the stops to get him".

Well I hope itīs just another rumour.

Default A Licence to Kill Orlando

I hope that's just a rumour too, as it is what I just came over to post:

Every day there's a ridiculous Bond rumour. Some at least seem vaguely believable or even good (eg. Clive Owen, Ewan McGregor) whilst others are plain ridiculous (Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones). Today comes one of the later.

Digital Spy reports that film producers are apparently "desperate" to sign up the 27-year-old Orlando Bloom as a replacement for Pierce Brosnan, who retires from the role after the next movie. A source says "They are pulling out all the stops to get him. Orlando would be perfect for the part as he's got the looks, the charm, the accent and the high profile that would make Bond even more popular. They want to move away from the traditional image of James Bond - the older, suave gentleman - and believe a younger, trendier actor will attract new fans"

If the producers are thinking along these lines, this would be the biggest (and arguably worst) shakeup of the franchise in its 42 year history. How in the world are we supposed to believe a guy this young is a retired naval commander turned super spy, and last time I checked the Brosnan films were by far the franchises most financially successful films - what new fans could you otherwise pull in?

A spokesman for Bloom said that "no decision had been made" about the role. Chalk this up as wild rumour #87452986
