Default The Prestige vs. The Illusionist

I dont know if this has been discussed here before. But I recently saw both movies in the same weekend - and while there is some resemblance between the two movies, I think they're quite different and cool in two different ways.

The Prestige being a battle between two magicians and The Illusionist being a battle against authorative forces, focusing more on love. I must say that I prefer The Prestige simply because of the way the story is told. Its more difficult to "guess the ending" than The Illusionist, I think.

So what do you guys think...which of these movies did you prefer and why?

Can't comment on the Illusionist 'cause I haven't seen it, but I really did enjoy The Prestige (saw it the other weekend).

Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen a bad movie with Christian Bale in it. He seems to be a pretty versatile actor.

I haven't even heard of The Illusionist, let alone seen it lol I thought The Prestige was very good though - but when you've got such a good story, a good director and a strong cast like that you really can't go wrong.

You both should rent The Illusionist. It's a great flick if you like magic and ...yep...illusions

I saw The Illusionist and thought it was really good. I managed to figure out the ending, but still thought it was an interesting twist.

In all honesty though, I had gotten the two movies mixed up and thought I had actually rented the Prestige. I do have a lot of free time this week LOL

Miracle, I have confused these two movies before too. I saw both 5-6 months ago and then last weekend I wanted to see "the one with the water tank", so I rented The Illusionist first just to find out this wasnt it Had to rent both then.

I've seen them both, but I have a hard time remembering which was which . I thought they were both alright though.

But if 'the one with the water tank' is The Prestige then, I think I liked that one better... if my memory serves me right .

I'm amazed to see how many people are having trouble remembering which movie was The Illusionist and which one The Prestige.
Granted; they are both about magicians and they both have a nice twist throughout the movie, but that's where the resemblance ends, I think.

I liked The Prestige better. Even though both movies were filmed in a nice style and both oozed a nice atmosphere, The Prestige won in both those aspects and in storyline.

Had I seen The Illusionist I'm sure I'd have no problems telling them apart - unless they are the same film with the same actors which I doubt. Surely they can't be so alike that no-one can tell the difference?

My thoughts exactly, Neil.
And go see it! Edward Norton and Jessica Biel are doing pretty good jobs in this movie.
