The story behind Qui-Gon's appearance in ROTS is supposedly as follows:

Liam Neeson was supposed to be in it as a force-ghost or possibly just his voice (I'm not sure if his part was actually filmed or not though) but he blabbed that he was going to be in the film. George was pretty pissed that he spilled the beans so early in production - after all he does like to keep it all as close to his chest as possible until nearer the release; Blue Harvest anyone? - so he decided not to include him in the movie. I did read the book but it was so long ago I can't remember how it was described in that. I think Obi-Wan sees the ghost though.

As for the upcoming stuff, there is a game called Force Unleashed where you play Vader's secret apprentice during the 20 year gap. There is also supposed to be a live action TV show during that time, most likely to star a lot of the minor characters - bounty hunters etc.

That's an CG animated series, but it's during the Clone Wars. There is a trailer on the Star Wars website for it. Although that sounds a bit pointless as that period was covered by the cartoon that was on Cartoon Network.

So that's what it is. I've been wondering for a while. On a Star Wars forum I go to, they said it was a medical condition.

That new game sounds pretty sweet. I'm going to pre-order it for sure. George Lucas has planned a television show. From what I've heard, it won't be on until 2010. Also, he's planned to continue the Clone Wars series somehow.

One thing I always liked about SW was it was always a work in progress with old Lucas.

That is why I reckon he did so well linking the first series with the second one. It was always changing so I think this is why he made modifications to his films in subsequent re-releases.

Did any of you guys read Splinter of the Minds Eye? This to me was the hum-dinger of proof that it was always a work in progress. Where Luke and Leia have a tongue-wrestling match. This book was sanctioned by Lucasfilm, so it showed he was always changing the overall script of the series, otherwise this crucial event wouldn't have happened!

Still, the movies to me are the real deal - the books not.

As far as the movie going public are concerned - there has never been a Mara-Jade Skywalker!

So also as far as the movie going public are concerned, Luke will be 21 forever? That's rubbish! The books are the official continuation of the storyline, and I believe all of them have recieved the seal of approval from Lucasfilm. Considering that the official Star Wars site recognises the extended universe, you can't really say it doesn't exist

I could be wrong, but I believe Lucas had the idea that Luke and Han were brothers, setting Luke up as the one to get the girl. Obviously the kiss is pretty much overlooked nowadays!

As for never having been a Mara Jade, just becasue the casual fan doesn't read the stories, doesn't mean the Expanded Universe doesn't count. George Lucas has to approve man of the plotlines personally- things like Chewbacca's death etc. He has done a couple of things that contradict the Expanded Universe, in particular the designers of the Death Star. But he has borrowed plenty from the EU for the prequel films, certain characters and locations. Most notably, Coruscant's first mention was in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy.

Also, the new video game has plenty of input from Lucas himself, so even that medium is now being used to carry on the story, meaning it is all pretty relevant to the overall picture!

I here what your saying.

Let me put it a better way. The movies are pretty much Lucas' final say on things. The six movies are more of a final product than the multitude of literature out there! Don't get me wrong, I have read a fair whack of the SW books. (Heir the Empire, Champions of the Force etc, etc). And I love them.

All I was trying to say was that if in ten years time Lucas wanted to do a third series of three, centered around Luke Skywalker, I'm sure he would do his own story and probably not Timothy Zahns. There might be a lot of similarities and borrowed ideas. I think he likes to have total creative control over it all, and fair enough too, considering it is his baby!

Does that come across as more cohesive.......

Yeah I believe Chewy fell into a molten pit.

Best swordsman, Mace Windu!

Undefeated and only beaten by a double-cross!
