This isn't new though. Hell, even as far back as 2002 we got word a radio station was going to play Everyday in a week, it played and THEN promo started. I feel like that was the same for What Do You Got too and a few others.

But you're right, I don't think that formula works. It just depends if it'll be out on iTunes Friday or just radio and then a release date gets announced to buy it. If it's EVERYWHERE Friday this is a poor move.

many artists launch the new single on itunes without preview announced and it worked. Because We Can was announced 2 weeks before of the launch, no diferences. The surprise factor is better in my opinion.

If you're an act that's big on social media, a celebrity and has a constant buzz, yes.

If this was 1986-89 then it would pay off if social media was about back then - But its 2020 and Bon Jovi are hardly a big deal when it comes to a new song/album.

They should promo the shit out of this if they want it to do well.

I don't think there is a formula that "works" for a band in their 50s for their single to work on any tangible level of commercial success. What you guys debating is just slipping hairs.

Bon Jovi could be on every TV show and promote it as much as possible and I don't think it would make THAT much difference.

I'm not really bothered about the promo anymore, I just want it to be good.

I agree but I'm also not going to knock the band for not doing promo a few days before a radio station might have early access to it.

It's a "John Shanks wall of sound" song.
