This is a LEAD SINGLE and I've barely heard the word Limitless come out of Jon's mouth in these interviews.

EDIT: Bon Jovi - Limitless - YouTube Look at the comments.

He is in fine voice.
Is that tommy and jina running?

Like, that's weird, right? The exact same wording and the two are back to back comments.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a situation similar to Burning Bridges, like maybe an obligatory album; or as said, perhaps the label forced the single, and the lack of emphasis on Limitless is a FU response. I don't get a sense that anybody is particularly excited about the album - not even Jon. And it still seems strange to me that, as active as Shanks, David, and Phil-X were early on, there's been nothing from any of them about Limitless. It might not stand out so much if they hadn't been so vocal in Nashville and on the tour but, since then, nada.

If I've said this before, apologies for repeating myself, but tbh, I get the feeling that all is not happy in Joviland. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it seems to me like Jon's been left swinging in the wind on the promotion of the songs and the album. I'm not sure what it is, because the bulk of the promotion has always been done by Jon (or Jon and Richie, when Richie was still there); but this just has a different feel to it. And I still can't get over the fact that, unless I missed it, Jon didn't even tweet a get-well message after David posted that he had been diagnosed with COVID19; and only said "of course we wish him the best" (paraphrased) after David was brought up in the interviews. It just feels "off" to me.

Jon's been confident in every record since Crush. It all goes away once the album drops off the charts and singles tank. I wouldn't particularly rate Phil X's opinion too much either. He's gone from saying Bon Jovi are a shit band to supposedly being excited over this pop garbage. I don't think these songs mean anything to him.

If this band would have a great single they'd have released it by now. However, it's been 15 years since the band released single-material and I doubt that's going to change with the absence of Sambora as a co-writer and producer. John Shanks has no idea what works and Jon can't deliver the pop melodies radio demand.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Agreed with Seb, sadly the band has become so uncool that even if they put out something really modern sounding and different they're kind of spinning their wheels in dad-rock territory. They're in a no-win situation so in my opinion I'd prefer he does music that makes him happy. Put the bumper sticker slogans away, if you want to mix charity and songs please don't make it so obvious.

There is one thing that bothers me a lot about Jon, and that is that he knows very well what his easy audience is, but he does not bother to capture a more demanding audience, I am not talking about musical quality, I am talking about ...the guy no longer he is hungrier to prove himself capable of doing something great... not even in the promotion.

Look at the interviews this past week, they are programs for housewives women. It's so humiliating, the highlight was talking about Prince Harry?

He has written a political album, and is so cowardly not to talk about politics.

He's doing the shows with the audience that wants to see him sadly. The shows we'd rather see him on, their audience doesn't care for the band. Its been the band's trajectory 2000 and forward. Your Rosie, Ellen, The View, Today, Good Morning America. This isn't new. It's frustrating but it once 2005-ish hit aiming for Mainstream Rock stations was done and it was Adult Contemporary stations. I don't even remember what was the last single to get a song delivered to rock radio specifically. Maybe I Want To Be Loved? Anyone know?

[QUOTE=rolo_tomachi;1262840]There is one thing that bothers me a lot about Jon, and that is that he knows very well what his easy audience is.

I don't think he know about his Dry County type audience... He knows his backstage one. Two VERY different demographics.

Agreed. The backstage one supports the band with money, this one tears him down when he doesn't do what they think he should do. Neither is right and neither is wrong I think.

imo jon should get Richie back and deliver songs in his mid and lower register..

Shanks and phil x just dont belong there..

and jon bacame too lazy...even in do what u can the chorus sounds awful when he shouts, truly wonder how noone told him that it s not good...sing it low and u ll pass the message across..

they are tired and old now, nth lasts forever but maybe just maybe they have sth more left in them..

They'll still sound like they do. Shanks isn't the problem.

In the interviews I saw, Jon didnt talk about the new album, just the new song, Do What You Can, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you be making sure to make a big deal about the new album only a month and a bit away? Apart from saying DWYC would be a bonus track.
