2020: The New Album

Two things.

1. Are BJ even ON a label? I thought they had a distribution deal, mostly. I don't think studio time was paid for by the label, didn't they just ship the final recordings to them? Also I believe that for THINFS, Tidal paid for most of the videos. They might be able to simply back out of the deal, _IF_ the band wants to do that.

2. The bigger issue would be - has stuff already been set in motion, such as CDs and booklets printed, ads booked, all the stuff that labels usually do?

We're not sure what label arrangement they have. If people are saying the label is pressuring the band management to change the lead single that would tell me they would be involved in the releasing timeline as well.

Not sure timeline wise how far in advance it gets printed. I would assume by now it's done, we're a month and a bit away from "release day".

they licence the material to Universal, but the contract will have been signed for this album way before it was announced to the public. You can't simply back out of a release at this stage. The label have spent their money and are completely within their rights to call for the album to be delayed.

Which two guys? Has anybody heard about another band member who was infected? I thought maybe he was referring to David and himself (because of Jake); but it sounds like he mentioned Jake in addition to the two band members. Or am I misinterpreting his comment?

I know Phil quarantined away from his family because he was overseas for his tour. It's possible that could be what he was talking about? Process of elimination would be Tico or Hugh. With Hugh's wife being pretty social media savvy it'd have to be Tico? Or maybe Phil did get it, not sure.

So Jon says that album is topical...even more so now....but then delays the release?
