I love WAN minus about 5 tracks.
Yes it was rushed. Yes it's not perfect but the imperfections are what make it.
I can listen to 3/4 of it which I cant for most albums of late.
For me their best album since Bounce.

I'm ready for the abuse. Bring it on mofos......

Because we can - poor choice as a single. Like the verses not the chorus.

I'm with you - love it

What about now - like it

Pictures of you - love it especially the ending.

Amen - awful

Water made me - love it

What's left of me - love it.

Army of one - awful

Thick as thieves - sound out of key at the start but love the line about electric chair and kissing.

Beautiful world - love it

Room at the end of the world- love it

With two hands - like it

Into the echo - love it

Burn with me - autotuned to hell but really like it

The rest - shite.

So a good album.

About ... WAN Album

These songs are good but not great:

Im With You (the guitar solo elevates the song)
Pictures Of You (the ending feels majestic)
Whats Left of Me
Room At The End Of The World
With These Two Hands (Jon sings this one with some energy and attitude)
Into The Echo (backing vocals and guitar solo is nice)

The rest of the album strikes me as tasteless songs like most of THINFS Album.

All that said, is incredible how this album (WAN), so poor and with a pop atmosphere, has more guitar solos than the things they have done since then until today.

That's because we no longer have Richie in the band,he could easily take Shanks boring pop production and give it more life with his bluesy soul guitar sound.

We do have Phil X but for some reason Jon doesn't seem interested in utilizing his talents in new songs.

I disagree with most of what you said there (and mostly your taste in general from previous discussions over the years), but you clearly have the self-awareness and the right attitude towards it, so I can't hate on that. You do you fam.

What's Left Of Me is probably the only piece of common ground we can find. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night is one of my all-time favourite songs and What's Left Of Me is the closest attempt to achieve that Jon has ever done.

Richie's bluesy soul guitar style and sound has been almost non-existent since pre-Crush. I could count on one hand how many album songs that had that bar band, bluesy swagger. Not saying its Richie or Shanks's fault but that style of playing went bye-bye long ago.

Pre-Crush, so, These Days? There's some bluesy fills on that album for sure. Then again, it depends on what you consider "bluesy". If As My Guitar... has bluesy licks, then so does What Do You Got.

Yeah Crush forward just didn't have...."that sound" I feel like? It popped up here and there especially on the Crush demos and b-sides, nowhere to be found on Bounce and HAND forward close to nada minus a few solos. I forgot about WYDG, true. I guess it does come up here and there.

Whatever Captain_Jovi meant, there is one thing that cannot be denied, songs now lack guitar solos. WAN was a poor guitar album, and still had more solos, and better than THINFS or the last two last songs of the new album 2020.

Jon (or J Shanks) cut the guitar solo on What Do You Got, and I don't understand why he did that, since it felt abrupt and unnatural.

If you listen to the demo of What Do You Got or how Richie always played the song live, you will notice that it was longer, repeating itself once more and having more feeling.

I thking Jon is simply allergic to guitar solos, I've observed him on shows, most of the time he wants that moment to pass quickly.

I no longer just miss Richie in this band, I miss a decent guitar job that raises the song a bit.

Fingerprints and WWYDF were the only surprises and were in a disposable album.

Sorry, must've missed it. :/

The ending of Pictures of You always reminds me of this song (Sunrise Avenue - Hollywood Hills): Probably Into the Echo is my favorite from WAN.

I've never made that connection, but I rarely listen to Pictures of You, so that might be a reason. Hollywood Hills is a far better song anyway
