2020: The New Album

Yeah I'm not saying this to take ANYTHING away from the performance because I really enjoyed it. It's clear it's a mish-mash of live and miming to pre-recorded parts (Hugh's fingers don't really match what he's playing and I don't really see a patch chord or wireless system). Still dug it though.

I'm assuming live vocals on Jon's part and at least Phil's solo being live in terms of guitar.

There a definite edits between Jon's parts, so he certainly didn't sing the whole thing live in one take...

Thought Phil's solo was great.

It was! Great tone, too. I'm usually not the biggest fan of his electric tone, but this one was superb.

Yeah it was a really tasteful solo. Not too show-offy, super melodic.

Was Jon's multiple takes or was it two angles that fade into each other?

I assume it's a couple of takes, because there's not much of autotune to be heard. And, realistically speaking, I'd have a hard time believing he'd pull this one off that well in one take these days. I assume they did at least about three runs on his vocals and that put it together.

There's definitely at least one point where the same angle, fades into the same angle on a different take. I'll need to watch it again to see exactly where...

Yeah, I know what part you mean. Jon looks at the camera that's to his left for a few seconds and then it goes to it.

Either way, edited or not, I liked the performance. Was good to see the band do something like this and at least we kind of got something different.

Gotcha. Watching it again I think you guys are right!

Would be nice if they did a tour with playing all the songs like this
