Ah honestly, it's genuinely not that big of a deal. Yeah, they could have done it fully live and yeah they could have missed an opportunity but let's face it, nobody is going to be rushing to buy the single/album really anyway.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't they do exactly the same in 2010 on the UK X Factor with Livin' On A Prayer?

Not at all, that performance was at least a pre-played live version with live vocals. This was the studio track with live vocals.

I agree, it's really not that big a deal, it just showcases how little an effort is being done to promote the music. You're right, it's kinda all in vain, I just hate agreeing with the naysayers that say they are a nostalgia band that phones it in.

Jon sounded decent for today's standards. It was phoned it and the movements are as awkward as they've been for the last 3 or 4 years.
They could've done it live, but it would've sucked all the energy out of the overproduced track once again and would've probably required Phil, Shanks and David to record multiple parts in order for it to have some energy.
At the end of the day - I don't think anyone really cares. Not the band, not the audience. They've done hundreds of live-to-track TV performances in the past and in one week from now, everyone will have forgotten about it anyay.

No, I know. What I'm saying is, the band at the time weren't playing live. And that's a song that's been out for 25 odd years around that point.

I get what you're saying but bonjovi90 has just hit the nail on the head. In a week's time, nobody, including us, will care.

Well, yeah, there's nothing wrong with using pre-recorded live versions to make sure televised events run smoothly. They've done it lots of times, the band has done it lots of times. My point was more playing the studio track with live vocals and passing it off as a live performance isn't really the same thing.

You're both right, no one will care but this wasn't about the fanbase or the casuals caring, it's my own beef, really.

Exactly. Considering the circumstances and the show it was on, it fulfilled what it needed too. Comments are positive and again, nobody gives a shit enough to give a shit.

I'm sure they committed to this way before the album delay and probably would have rescheduled if they could. It was the finale and The Voice wanted Bon Jovi's audience members so they held them to it.

This was perfectly stated "They could've done it live, but it would've sucked all the energy out of the overproduced track once again and would've probably required Phil, Shanks and David to record multiple parts in order for it to have some energy"

I don't think the effort was needed for one live 3 minute song. It was probably difficult enough to coordinate the video. If I was Jon, I would have phoned it in too.

There are much bigger issues with the band that this... Like Jon's hair. Ha

JBJ is a better showman/frontman with longer hair. And without the black acoustic guitar.

I think there's still Shanks' beard but less, while no hair of JBJ is moving, while Phil X moves all his hair
This band is getting really awkward...
A bald JBJ wouldn't surprise me
At least Everett is not using one of his rare wigs...

One other point. Let's not forget that It's My Life was recorded separate so they can perform individually but that was also an acoustic setting. Much different than full on production.

Saturday Night (acoustic) was the best of all. But of course that was an old song.
Limitless could be a lot better, instruments sounding less noisy than voice didn't help either.
However I like the song (Limitless) -_- and JBJ's voice sounds okish.
