Ha ha...oh my hand was raised to my AirPod to double tap since I wanted to keep a certain pace but something made me listen to it and I although it got me emotional it made me realize I really liked it.

Love the harmonica.

That's what I miss on current songs. They're not bad for starters, but they don't pick up anymore. Scars On This Guitar, Labour of Love, Fingerprints...they're all dragging on for so long that you kind of tune out at some point even though they're not necessarily bad songs. They just fail to keep you hooked to them.

I still can't get excited about this after Limitless, Unbroken and Do What You Can, but I'm relieved to hear Beautiful Drug and Brothers in Arms, it sounds like there could at least be a couple of rock tracks on this. If there's some proper solo's on Brothers in Arms and Blood in the Water then at least there's a few tracks I might like.

Unlike many here, I don't dislike Unbroken or American Reckoning. I may even tolerate Do what you can when it plays on the record. I just hate Limitless.

Based on what we've heard from the snippets, 2020 might be a pleasant surprise.

This song made me cry. For me it is literally one of my favorite songs of Jon's. I never cry when I listen to music. Being moved, yes, but not like that.

Jon breaks down how they recorded the two new 2020 songs. But completely omits David? Was he credited as playing on it? Either he supplied his parts from home, did it after, or he's just not on it.

Still, I'm hoping it puts to rest the lazy rhetoric that it's a drum machine.

Is this what you're referring to?

Quote:
Two of the songs were written after the lockdown. How were they recorded?

We flew to California. John Shanks, our guitar player/co-producer for the last 15 years, has his own place, so we all agreed to fly out to L.A. for two days and knock the songs out. Phil [X] and John live out there, Tico [Torres] and Hugh [McDonald] took one private plane from Florida and I took one from New Jersey, and that was it. We spent the time, money and effort because I knew the songs were worth it, and we went to a private studio and flew right back.

If so, he said pretty much the same thing, about recording DWYC and another new song, in the quote I posted from the FB promo with Jennifer Nettles back on 9/16 :

Quote:
... so I snuck off in June, with the band, to CA, where John Shanks, our co-producer and guitar player, has a home studio; and Tico flew in from FL, Hugh from Nashville, and me from here, and John, of course, and Phil from LA, and we recorded this and another new song for the record...
I asked, then, if anybody noticed who was missing; but apparently it came across like I was dissing David, or putting forth some theory that he wanted out of the band or something. I wasn't; I just thought it was odd that Jon didn't even mention him.

I love how so many people think that the guys in the band are the sole players on each studio album... Pick any random studio release and read the liner notes. You'd be shocked how many additional studio musicians are pulled in to play certain parts.

No, those are taken into consideration. Of course there are additional musicians, there always have been, I'd just love to know how much of it.
