Guess tastes differ, but I'd prefer it if Phil left his style in the Drills and created something a little more Jovi style...
I still haven't found out why it is called "dangerous", but sure it is different in style, but so is the song. So far I think it works quite well within that song.

Don't complain about the guitar solo, it's the only one on the album. Say we complain about this too, on the next album they won't bother to put one on.

True!

It just doesn't sound very jovi.

Phil's style doesn't fit the band so always difficult but I need to hear the whole song to know if I like it. I think I remember hearing that a few solos were recorded and Jon picked that take in particular.

Wasn't it that Jon wanted to get rid of the solo and Shanks kind of overruled/convinced Jon to keep it in? But yeah, gotta hear the whole thing to make final judgement...

Do we know for sure it's the only one?

Also not sure I'm understanding the criticism of....people having an issue with the band not using Phil, and holding him back and why hire him if he can't do his thing and when he does a solo it doesn't fit and needs to be more like Bon Jovi. I just don't see how it can be both those things?

The solo isn't going to make or break the song. I like what I'm hearing but it's not an instant classic and will most likely be dropped/forgotten by Jon after this album/tour runs its course.

I feel it's a very similar solo to the outro during the This House Is Not For Sale live performance.

It's got that reving motorcycle Motley Crue sound. It's not really Bon Jovi, It's doesn't have any emotion, but it's got great energy and I can see Jon having fun with it during a live setting. Similar to what he did during the This House performance. He did that reving hand motion and then lets Phil take off.

Each time an album drops, I try to envision every song in a live setting. A perfect example is Knockout. I thought it worked well live. It's a quick, high energy, great arena acoustic, flow-up to the opener, and then the second song leading into Bad Name.

I don't know how the entire song is structured yet but it could be an opener or follow up to the opener due to it's high energy sound... I can see Jon making the set list now... Copy/Paste from last tour. Take out This House, insert Beautiful Drug, Done!!!

Live, Do what you can will be the new WSYCGH.

How many of these will be played live? Quite a few slow ones here.

I agree on your point. I always said that I preferred the original We Dont Run guitar solo to the one Phil X later did live, as it felt out of place and was not memorable.

But my point is that I'm not going to get into whether it's a great solo or it could have been better, I'm just happy to hear a loud, clear and direct guitar solo on a Jovi song. We need more guitar solos on the records.

I think of all of them, Beautiful Drug would sit the best in the setlist. Brothers in Arms is higher energy but subject matter wise anyone can understand Beautiful Drug. It's not political or about a big subject matter, fun vibe.

I've always been TERRIBLE at choosing what songs will be performed live (I pegged Come on up to our house to be at every show and was shocked they did Last Man Standing live) but my best guess is: Limitless, Do What You Can, Beautiful Drug, Story of Love and Blood in the Water will be the ones played the most live.
