Holy shit, just holy shit. Had basically zero expectations considering the shitfest that was Limitless. Also proves that Jon just really isn't good with picking singles considering the rest of the album is pretty strong (I'd swap Limitless with either Beautiful Drug or Brothers in Arms).

  • Limitless - Weaker version of Knockout, typical Shanks wall of sound production.
  • Do What You Can - Also overproduced, but this has been my guilty pleasure so far. Why did it have to be catchy?
  • American Reckoning - One of the lyrically stronger songs on the album. Musically, not bad, but not great either. And as a sidenote, I wasn't even born yet when Jon last broke out the harmonica.
  • Beautiful Drug - Nice recycle lol but not complaining; THINFS chord progression + I've confused it for Smells Like Teen Spirit. Definitely Crush-era vibes here but with a Shanks Telecaster.
  • Story of Love - Fingerprints 2.0. Easily one of the best tracks in the album for that reason. The scatting reminds constantly reminds me of how he pronounces "die" in the more recent live performances of BTBMB.
  • Let it Rain - It's one of the more "in-your-face" songs in the album, in a sense that it's quite loud. The riff makes up for the relatively weak chorus.
  • Lower the Flag - Weak first half, but becomes more solid from the bridge onwards.
  • Blood in the Water - Really went for Dry County, from the opening to the choruses.
  • Brothers in Arms - Definitely radiates some KTF-era energy thanks to Tico.
  • Unbroken - The intro and outro are on point, but that's about it for me. At least the downer atmosphere is there.
  • Shine - If U2 wrote the intro for "Love is Bigger than Anything in Its Way" in 2004, this song's intro would probably be the result. And I'm not complaining because the only weak point is Jon's voice (produced like it's from WAN and he was clearly struggling in this track). Shanks' guitar + Dave's choice of synths complement perfectly for the atmosphere.
  • Luv Can - Jon has, uhm, interesting enunciation in the choruses. The riff definitely carries the song and so does the outro.

Really think the album flows better this way
Which was the original way.
That's how I have it on phone. Shame the vinyl and CD isn't that way...

1. Beautiful Drug

2. Unbroken

3. Limitless

4. Luv Can

5. Brothers in Arms

6. Story of Love

7. Lower the Flag

8. Let It Rain

9. Shine

10. Blood in the Water

Listening now and just had first one im not keen on is story of love....bit like fingerprints 2.0 and the same with both - love the solos but the rest of the song isn't to my taste.

I even think unbroken which i hated originally sounds better and actually fits as a 2nd song which when you read the track flow it really looks like it won't...

All the songs are on Youtube, guys. I think there is no need to ask for PMs anymore.

Yep. I’m really loving Luv Can and Shine. The outros are blissfully beautiful. I love when Jovi do synth heavy songs (like Walls).

Would 110% replace them with Unbroken and American Reckoning.
