This is exactly how file sharing hurts the band... If you all waited a day and listened on YouTube and Spotify, their numbers would be much higher.
You can't blame file sharing. The file sharing issue is nowhere near as prominent in the days of streaming. Most people have Spotify, or Apple music etc, so the market for illegal downloads in minimal now. The people that were so excited about the album release are the ones that downloaded it when it leaked, and they are mostly the ones that would have had it pre-ordered anyway.

You also talk as if file sharing only effect Bon Jovi, but every artist has the same issue...pretty much every album released this week will have leaked at day or two before at least.

There is a brutal decline in sales, this is not about file sharing, wake up. There has been a lot of disinterest from people with this album, even us fans, we were not very motivated, and there has been little promotion of Bon Jovi in the media. If to this you add the drama of covid19, well I can see why we are on the number 20.

At least it makes a nice rhyme with the album title.

Bingo. Yes YouTube streams count on the Billboard now, since January I believe.
A lot of people stream instead of buying physical now. Older bands with older audiences who still by CDs find it difficult to compelete with the younger acts that get lots of streams.

Yep. Just check out the visualizations for the Savage x Metro album (# 1 on billboard now) on youtube, and then compare the visualizations for Bon Jovi 2020.

21 Savage x Metro Boomin

Bon Jovi 2020 Album

The difference is dramatic. Savage x Metro Boomin has an average of 1 million views, and BJ 2020 around 40,000 views.

I'm not denying that there is some truth in that however Bon Jovi are dead last in streams and we all witnessed the shit show that took place on this board so there is definitely some connection.

Fans might be older but they aren't that old where they cant navigate a computer.

The reason why bands are now putting full albums under their main youtube accounts is for that very reason. When you share files it stops those people from going onto YouTube Or Spotify to listen.

And maybe the impact isn't as sever as you think but it obviously doesn't help the situation either... This is what stops Box Sets and Special Editions.

There is no way a band like Savage Garden who have a fraction of the fans Bon Jovi has, who also have zero mainstream promo and haven't done anything of any relevance since the mid 90s are beating them in sales.

You're arguing something that isn't even being argued. Savage Garden aren't the act people are talking about.

Nearing 6 Million Youtube views and released October 2nd

Limitless was released 7 months ago and is only now cracking 3.5 million.

The band missed their chance to be relevant online and had every opportunity to do so. They'd get close and then back off entirely. The band's relevance in pop culture is the problem, not the literal handful of fans downloading the album a day before release. If it effected numbers, and it probably did, you're looking at the low thousands maybe?

Well, looking to the future, I think now is when we will see the true artist do his art, or maybe I was wrong and Jon will bring that sound that he try on Born Again Tomorrow and Take Back The Night?

Thoughts for the future? change of musical style? kick and out John Shanks? bring back Sambora?

It could either lead to a more artistic period where he's backed into a corner and admits sales aren't there so why bother trying to be popular or it could lead to him just retiring early if he can't tour and can't sell albums.

It's more complicated then just kicking out Shanks and bringing back Sambora because we're talking about it in the context of record sales. Bringing back Richie won't lead to that as much as we all want it to. It'll lead to some fans coming back but if the pop culture world cared enough about the band when Richie was in it there wouldn't have been a huge slump from 2008 to 2013 album wise. Bringing him back won't fix it, Jon wanting to make a change for the better will.

It's curious, but when I was listening to the album this weekend, I thought for a moment that this could be the sunset of Bon Jovi, but I quickly refused to believe that, because I want to keep listening to new music.

Having the same thoughts. If this is the album they go out out....I wouldn't be totally upset. Yeah I'd love a reunion but not one that winks at the audience too much, bringing out the talkbox and making another anthem like It's My Life is the most obvious and transparent move and we'd see right through that. If it's not Jon and Richie writing songs that mean something to them then I'll take how this album sounds as second place to that.
