A question like this has been answered loads of times before. He'll dance around the real issue because there's just no way he'll admit he can't sing for shit anymore. You'll get the usual "Well I regret writing it in such a high key when I was younger, thankfully I'm singing better now than I did back then yada yada...

These "Ask JBJ a question" never result into anything because they're heavily moderated by a Jon Bon Jovi approved moderator.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
You're not wrong here as he does usually dance around these things, but he actually did address it once quite openly during a Q&A some 3 years ago or so, basically saying after a relatively good night vocally that "he wishes he could still sound like this every night and that he's working harder on his voice now than at any time in his career, because you (fans) deserve better" while barely holding back the tears.

I was quite shocked the clip didn't go viral (I remember it was a point of conversation here for like one day), probably because it was only on the guy's (who asked the question) Facebook and never showed up on YouTube, but that's as good of an answer as one will ever get from a failing singer who's yet to retire.

Yeah, I gotta say I was very surprised about his honesty on that occasion. Yet come the 2019 European tour and 2020 album promo interviews, he was back to the old delusional shit - at some point last year he legitimately claimed he's singing stronger than ever...

The second leg of the 2019 European tour was, for the most part, a disaster in terms of Jon's vocals. I went to the Bucharest show on July 21 fully knowing what to expect....and yet Jon had a particularly bad night there. The overall vibe across the audience wasn't good, either. That being said, the 2020 performance show is much better than what we saw in 2019, so I still hope he could get better. But, then again, what kind of vocal recovery would take 7-8 years to bear any fruit?

It's a weird tightrope to have to walk though. You can say stuff like that during a fanclub show because....he knows they are going to buy no matter what. If he's promo'ing an album or a tour to encourage people to buy, is that really the avenue to admit his voice isn't good anymore? I just don't find the two situations comparable. But he absolutely needs to find a middle ground, it's bonkers to brag about your voice in this stage in any capacity. Just say it's about the songs, say it's about the fans, say it's about the memories, don't say you're singing better than ever.

This is the biggest reasons I'm irked God Bless This Mess was swapped out as the lead single. That opening line after the hiatus would have been a butt-ton of honesty, something the band really lacks most times.

I don't remember if it was a show review or just an article regarding new material but I remember the exact words were "Jon Bon Jovi looks like he could do this for another 20 years yet he sounds like he should have stopped 10 years ago". Sometimes when I watch some of those 2019 shows, as much as I enjoy some performances, I can't help but think of that statement.....

Me neither and considering PR companies actually pay for songs to get on the radio in the first place, I'm not surprised it flopped ....
