It neither doesn't fit the lyrical theme nor does it have the lyrical originality These Days had compared to previous efforts.

Your issue really isn't with those who complain after hearing a 30 second snippet. Your issue is not hearing the same thing others hear. You draw conclusions based upon the way you rate Bon Jovi's latest output while most on here have either left or come to terms with the idea that new music will be mediore at best and the snippet shows this quite well. It showcases exactly everything that's wrong with Bon Jovi studio efforts nowadays. It's the same lyrical themes, even the same lines, the same production, worse vocals, barely any guitar and robotic drums.

A new 30 second snippet ought to excite but it doesn't, really, as it again, just like Live Before You Die, is really more of the same, but worse. There is just no reason to believe Bon Jovi will knock it out of the park with this effort when every new release is a worse final product than whatever came before it.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I think that song is shit and boring. Just because it sounds different and more laid back than Bon Jovi's output doesn't mean it's suddenly a good song. There's no real difference to any of the other output, it's still the same lyrics with the same cliches.

Says the guy who constantly signs in for the same reason and posts the same stuff. I've gotten tired of you getting on my back. Stick to the topic as opposed to ruïning it with your constant whining.

Well there's at least one thing you share with the band. You've been repeating the same things over and over again for the last 10 years with less and less talent

I know, the last few years haven't exactly been my most brilliant years here, but it's because I work best with a few sidekicks, and all the funny sidekicks have left Jovitalk as well. I wholeheartedly apogolize for this.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Best post in a loooong time 😹😹😹

I wonder when Seb will lose his job here...not many people left and running out of ideas just like Jonny boy. With almost all his sidekicks gone, I’m sure the person who pays his jovitalk pay slip will have had enough soon.

Anyway: get back on track too Seb, you can’t say one thing then do the opposite 😎

I'm all for Jon delivering something interesting on the new album, but my fear is that the stuff that gets selected for the record will be rather the same again.
There have been interesting songs (for me) in the last decade, but many of the like Not Running Anymore, A Teardrop To The Sea, Who Would You Die For, I Will Drive You Home, Real Love etc. were the ones that were pushed onto an album of outtakes or into bonus track status.

He's talked about "having a clear vision" with this album, I hope we'll see that shine through.

I understand people wanting to be excited by new snippets, but in this case I also get why it polarizes so much. This excerpt essentially is the summary of the last decade. Moon, June, Spoon rhymes and too blatant usage of other songs (Top Gun/Ode to Joy). Not subtle influences, like every artist has out there and which are perfectly fine, but in-your-face copies of others.

Maybe it'll be an outtake like Take Back The Night which was as obious as this one, then it should rest aside. But I can rarely imagine two PTSD songs on an album.

So you think A Teardrop To The Sea and Living With The Ghost aren't good songs? Ok then...

Teardrops is a great song in my option. Living With The Ghost I never got the fuss over. Average at best.

I like the metaphors and the message used in the song, some good lyrics in there. Also, I think that the "go tell your shadows that I got out alive" line is the example where I can feel Jon convey emotion regardless of his vocal limitations.
But whereas I love the feel and the soaring guitars in Teardrop as well as pretty much everything else, Living With The Ghost feels very bland musically and I always cringe at the bridge of that song. So yeah, rather average, like most of the stuff on THINFS.
