Not read anyone elses comments yet, but here's mine.

Wasn't a fan of Limitless when I first heard it but it grew on me. Far from being thier best though. It does work really well as an opener and going in to Do What You Can works too. Both have some chessy lyrics, but I can forgive them. After hearing the duet version of Do What You Can, I enjoy the solo version much less.

I though it would be too soon for American Reckoning as track 3 but after 2 upbeat numbers it actually fits pretty well there. I think it's a really well written track and says what it needs to say without any bells and whistles which I think is how it should be. I don't think it needs to kick in, I think it works just as it is.

Thought Beautiful Drug was another Have A Nice Day/This House Is Not For Sale rip off with the opening riff for a second, but thankfully not. This track is interesting, a little different and not what I expected at all. I like it. I think it could work well as the next single. It sounds like it could get radio play without being a generic BJ attempt to score a hit. Nice solo.

So far I've not be bothered by Jon's voice at all, so I guess that's a good thing. Or maybe I'm just used to it now. The first time I was reminded of the way he sings now was Story Of Love, but it only bothered me a little. It's a nice little track, but nothing special as far as I'm concerned. I feel like I'm missing something, maybe it's a grower. The ride out guitar at the end was nice, but needed to be bigger sounding. I thought it would build up more. The kind of song I really miss Richie on.

Let It Rain is almost modern day acoustic driven Jovi by numbers, but a much more organic sound and a production that actually sounds like a real band really helps. Nice drum sound. Are Shanks and Jon actually listening for a change? Enjoyable track.

Lower The Flag...I expected more. A little different to what we are used to, but I found it a little dull. Again, a Richie BV would have sounded great on this and would have taken it to the next level I think. I'm not sure about the talky section.

Blood In The Water. Apologies for mentioning Richie again, but the guitar on the intro/verses is crying out for Richie at his bluesy best. However, for me this track steels it. Jon actually sounds really good. I'm guessing this is the one that was said to be Dry County-ish. I can see the comparison for sure. Closest thing to old school Jovi I've really heard from them for a good while. Doesn't have the same power, but that's to be expected. A better solo could have elevated it even more. The highlight of the album for me. Best thing I've heard from them in years.

Stonesy vibe to Brothers In Arms. A much needed more upbeat track. Though it's nothing particuarly special.

I still think Unbroken is awful. It works better in the context of the album than as a stand alone track. But it's a track I will very rarely go back to. Works as an album closer. But the worst thing on the record by far.

On the whole, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Maybe because I had no real expectations. I didn't think it would sound like a Bon Jovi record, but a JBJ solo album. I think I was wrong. I like the fact that, in places, he is trying something different from the last few records. It was much needed. And the fact that he's writing lyrics that are relevant and mean something to him is definitely a step in the right direction. Not too many of them were too cheesy. I do feel like I would maybe connect with it more if I lived in the US.

This is all of course just based on a first listen, so it may change. In fact, I'm sure it will....it could go either way. Either the tracks will really stick with me and grow on me, or I will get bored of them pretty quickly. Time will tell....
