It's a weird tightrope to have to walk though. You can say stuff like that during a fanclub show because....he knows they are going to buy no matter what. If he's promo'ing an album or a tour to encourage people to buy, is that really the avenue to admit his voice isn't good anymore? I just don't find the two situations comparable. But he absolutely needs to find a middle ground, it's bonkers to brag about your voice in this stage in any capacity. Just say it's about the songs, say it's about the fans, say it's about the memories, don't say you're singing better than ever.
This is the biggest reasons I'm irked God Bless This Mess was swapped out as the lead single. That opening line after the hiatus would have been a butt-ton of honesty, something the band really lacks most times.
