Some of you people need to quit crying a river. I'm sick of hearing "ugh, not another "live my life" song." IWTBL IS NOT A LIVE MY LIFE SONG. Saying "I want to live" is not the same thing. Not to mention HAND is not IML part 3, it has a different message.

Someone also just commented about the band's image not being as diverse because of it. What a bunch of pessimistic twats. They just released Welcome, which sounds like nothing they've ever done before. They just released who says, which has a completely new message and a new sound. So what do half of you do: complain....again. They're also promoting their image using other songs from the image in other ways. So go cry a frickin' river, and guess what, they don't give a crap about what you think. They picked a good song, and IWTBL will not be the next misunderstood/AALY because it's not crap, and it's rock.

I can only imagine what some of you would be saying had they released Wildflower next...

My point exactly.

It appears that IWTBL is being released as a single for "rock" radio formats here in the US. I don't know how radio works in Europe but over here we are awash with narrow market, limited playlist type of radio, which almost forces a band to release different songs to different markets. Who Says is doing pretty well at country but HAND has run it's course at rock stations and IWBL is a good choice I think, it may well catch on over here.
FYI, the song is about child abuse and surviving it, so in my book it's not "just another I'm living my life song".

You're absolutely right and that makes me wonder, how is Jon going to handle the interviews about this song if it takes off. Is he trying to say he was abused as a child as it's well known he wrote the song about this upbringing. The sensitivity of the subject matter alone led me to believe it wouldn't get released so good for them for putting it out there.

I don't think it's about him personally. More likely it has to do with Jon getting involved personally at Northern Home in Philadelphia through his football team. This is a place where neglected and abused children live and no doubt Jon has been impacted a great deal by them and their stoeries.

I live in Orlando and just recently, as in the last couple of weeks, HAND the single's airplay has really picked up. I heard it three times today alone. If I remember right, it took IML several months to become a regular on radio. Crush came out in June, the single in April of 2000 but I didn't start hearing it everyday around here until October/November of that year. I assume that is what is happening now with HAND...

I was just thinking the other day that with Who Says coming out to pop/rock stations around the US that they may be pulling the plug on HAND too soon, now you throw I Want To Be Loved into the mix, which I assume will be a US single release because I saw it listed on the Radio and Records website and it all becomes a mess.

Hopefully, this will not become another Bounce disaster with Misunderstood being released to pop/rock stations and Bounce released to hard rock stations as we see how good that strategy did for them. Neither Bounce nor I Want To Be Loved are "hard" enough songs to be hits on what passes as rock today on the radio. We all know for a fact that Who Says is being released to pop/rock radio and country radio in the US and that Welcome is just now being released overseas. Isn't it too soon for another single?

To the people from overseas who are members on here, I wouldn't get your hopes up that I Want To Be Loved will be released in Europe or anywhere outside the US anytime soon. Maybe someone can help shed some light on this cause it makes no business sense to me at all. If I Want To Be Loved is gonna be next, shouldn't it be released AFTER Who Says has run it's course?

Releasing two different songs to two different formats has never worked out well for them. Whoever is making these decisions is a moron it seems.
I've been telling people the same thing about Have a Nice Day, comparing it with It's My Life and finally someone else understands. I think they are killing the singles off too fast. Their songs always took a while to catch on. The album has been out for 4 months and already we have a 4th single? And as for "I Wanna Be Loved", why not release "Last Man Standing" if they wanted a good rock song, its a lot heavier and catchy. I just hope they are making the right moves.

I agree that if they are releasing a single solely to rock radio, why not let it be Last Man Standing.
