So true...I convinced my brother to go to one of their concerts in April of 2013. He wasn't a big Bon Jovi fan at all but agreed to go solely to see Richie and then all hell broke loose because Richie was gone.

I'm not talking about Facebook groups. I'm talking about pages like Ultimate Classic Rock, Mitch Lafon, pages like that. Mitch probably isn't a great example because he loves JBJ but a lot of his followers are not Jovi fans. Not sure how you don't see that on those pages as it's common. Maybe you don't read the comments?
No I do, and I absolutely agree. We're talking about two different audiences. Ones keyed into older 90's rock music and the general public. I'm fully aware that a subsection of a subsection enjoy it. But it ain't the general public, that's more-so the audience I thought we were talking about.

Thing is, is the general public really listening to the Young Guns album outside of the fan base? I don't think so. To most it's just seen as a soundtrack album to and old movie. The title track sure, but the rest of it? Blaze was on the greatest hits albums, so that's where people get the most exposure to it outside of the radio. Not on the Young Guns album.

Absolutely. A greally good friend of mine is a guitar player and he doesn't like the band at all. He would never go and see them live. BUT, he loves Stranger In This Town. I think this kind of audience is extremely underestimated for this kind of album.

I hear you.

I honestly didn't think me saying "People know Young Guns more than they know SITT" would lead to this all of this.

Haha you should know this board better by now...

No one is contesting that Young Guns was the bigger albums by far, I just think that the reach that Stranger has had, over the years, and the respect that it has in certain circles, is underestimated.

It has respect but if you asked 100 rock but not Jovi fans abs said have you heard blaze of glory they would all say yes.
Have you heard SITT most to nearly all would say no.

General public, sure they are more likely to have heard Blaze, it's unlikley any of them will have heard Stranger.
Rock crowd/musicians will, on the whole, be very aware of Stranger. The song Blaze is of course very well known, but it seems to me that the album, outside of the BJ fan base, has been very much forgotten.

What if they picked the best songs from Blaze and Stranger and made that into a Bon Jovi album, wouldnt that have been their best album ever? I know they needed a break from each other back then, but just a thought.

I'd never actually considered that.....they are so different from each other, I'm not sure how that would work....

You'd probably have (in my opinion) - choosing 5 from each

Blaze
Miracle
Santa Fe
Bang A Drum
Dyin' Ain't Much

Stranger
Ballad
One Light
Father Time
The Answer

How the hell you'd organise that into an album, I'm not sure...might be too many slow ones..I think you'd need to add some of the more upbeat numbers to balance it out (River Of Love, Rosie, Church Of Desire, Billy Get Your Guns, Never Say Die...)

Billy Get Your Guns
Church Of Desire
Miracle
Blaze Of Glory
Stranger In This Town
Ballad Of Youth
One Light Burning
Santa Fe
Rosie
River Of Love
Never Say Die
Father Time
Bang A Drum
Dyin' Ain't Much Of A Livin'
The Answer

I think they are better left as they are, to be honest...
