Default AMA's - Bon Jovi Played "Have A Nice Day"

Probablay a good half of the song! It's a heavy rocker with loud guitar and loud drums. Don't forget the loud singing! I have the chorus so here it is...

Oh!

If there's one thing I could give you
To get you through the night

Oh!

A little something to hang on to
To make you feel alive.
Brighter than a diamond
Sharper than a knife
Standing on the ledge
The streak of the light
There's one thing I could say...
Have A Nice Day!

That was by my own judgement and countless listening! Enjoy!

Ryan

It sounded pretty good. I guess it was Dave in the background who sounded like his privates were in a vice grip. He REALLY needed to lower his voice. LOL

I thought the speech was very nice, even though it was bit rushed. It was nice to hear Alec's name. That's one thing I don't like about awards shows having all the nonsense--the winners don't always get to say what they'd like.

I think It's My Life actually throws it off. Maybe it's just my perspective cuz I'm hardcore...perhaps it was perfect for the overall audience. But it doesn't flow into Have a Nice Day very well in a way that really lets the song shine. Also, their stage dress and the stage all recall the Crush/Bounce look. So that also overshadows the actual song.

I also, after watching Josh Groban's performance of "You Raise Me Up," I found myself thinking of other songs Bon Jovi could have done that would really make the world see the artistic talent of the band, not just he commercial/glossy side. Something where Jon really lets loose vocally. Think My Guitar Lies Bleeding.....Something To Believe In. But then, the last he did that was the These Days tour..but that's exactly what the masses need to see.

On a less negative take.... The band was making a blunt statement as a opposed an "artsy" one. The coming new album has been stated as being about disillusionment in the things Jon grew up believing and has seen tested in the last 4 years. 4 years that began with the first single and opening track number from Crush, which they performed tonight. You start at 2000 and then they take us to 2004....and it's a different tone now. Uneasiness...optimism hidden in pessimism. The lyrics to Have a Nice Day are of their higher caliber work. No cheese and it really does rock sonically and lyrically at Keep the Faith level.

So I just want it to be clear.....there is no gripe here about the overall performance and definately not the new song. Although my other half did suggest that they should have started with the TLFR version of It's My Life...all mellancholy and then "exploded" into Have a Nice Day. After hearing that suggestion...I think that would have been perfect. They do a song that everyone knows, only in a way that allows them to spotlight Jon's voice (assuming he puts himself into it) and then really accent the new song by picking it up. That's how you hook them in.

The appearance as a whole was great...well done. The whole opening video montage starting with their intro by Dick Clark on American Bandstand when they performed Runaway...even These Days getting a fairly good knod and airtime. Though only Jon spoke...as you know..these things are rehearsed and are tight. I'm sure it was agreed mutually that Jon would handle it..and you gotta give him credit for covering ALL the bases. He really went out of his way to shine a spotlight on each member in thanking them..also saving them for last as the best. He seemed very emotional...even quite nervous. Really a great moment for the band tonight.
