I also think that Jon is very particular. In a similar regard, Jon doesn't include Dave with any of the songwriting... He's got a proven track history with his solo projects and yet, no...

I bet they end up extending these songs for the tour... Something has to eat up the time and it's not Jon's voice...
What is Dave's proven track record with solo projects? He released a few instrumental albums and wrote a few successful musicals. He's done great stuff but it doesn't necessarily convert to the band sound. He's pretty audible on the new album, both in voice and keyboard parts.

THINFS, the album, does not even quality for a 2016 Grammys as it was released after the September 30 deadline. Hence, only THINFS, the song, could qualify for a Grammy, but pretty much every song in those two categories is better than that, so I have no problem.

Although I do partially agree that Heathens by 21 Pilots does not belong in the rock category by any stretch of the imagination.

Absolutely right!!! The dude wrote a play that won 7 Tony Awards... He's been part of the bands sound for 35 years as a musician and backing vocalist... He also wrote/cowrote the hit, In These Arms... Dave could have assisted Jon lyrically and played more of a role with the writing process... Like I said, he has a proven track record...

He co-wrote one song that stood the test of time but how many songs did he co-write that people rank on their list of fav songs? Unbreakable? The End? Jon gave him a co-write on Last Cigarette because he wanted a co-write, not because he co-wrote it. Can Dave write music? Yes. Can he write music with Jon that fits the band current style? I don't know. He has a proven track record with musicals, he doesn't have a proven track record writing with the band if you co write 7 or 8 songs and 1 does well.

Agreed. Plus I vaguely remember Jon saying that their chemistry just doesn't work that well when it comes to songwriting. Even on In These Arms Jon and David couldn't knock it out properly until Richie came in and fixed the chorus of the song.

Songwriting chemistry isn't transferable. You don't just lose a band member and say "oh cool let's move it down the line to the next guy". If Jon and Dave wrote songs together and it worked then we would have had him on more songs, they had every chance to try it out more in the past 30 years and didn't for whatever reason. There is no proven track record there.

You're missing the point... I'm not saying there is a proven track record of chemistry... I'm just noting the fact that Dave is a songwriter period... If I said Jon and Tico should write, there is no substance to back that... but Dave has a proven track record of being a song writer... I never said with Bon Jovi... if you go back and read my initial statement, I said that the reason why Dave doesn't write with / for Bon Jovi is because Jon is very particular... and specifically said that Dave has a proven track record with his SOLO work... I never said that they should write... I'm only confirming with what you are arguing with me about... Dave is a proven songwriter via his solo work however Jon is very particular be it chemistry, lyrics, sound , or whatever... That's all I said... I don't need explanation as to why and never asked for it... Knowing the bands history in combination with a little common sense is explanation enough...

I love how testy you get when people don't agree with you. Of course he has a proven track record as a song writer, if we're not talking about him in the confines of the band then your point is already out the window.

"Knowing the bands history in combination with a little common sense is explanation enough..." give me a break..again with the common sense stuff. We're allowed to disagree and debate, stop trying to make this the RD show.
