It's because some era ended but not everything. It's not a solo act of this or that member. The machine is still rolling on. So many other bands experienced that, why would our band (and we) be any different?

Because this isn't just some band. For all their issues, this is still one of the biggest bands in the world. As someone else said, it's like Axl and Slash.

I meant BIG bands because I'm not that familiar with the smaller ones.

I find it a little sad that most acts see it as standard to wait three years between every release. I envy those of you who got to experience the times when your favorite bands basically threw material at the fans like once every six months.

It's really hard to remember last time Bon Jovi released an EP or new songs to the market for no reason at all. If he's recording something right now, he'll keep close to his chest until there's an opportunity to release it (like an album or a movie soundtrack).

I think there was a promo EP for Bounce (Target?), but I don't know how official that was. Other than that, I really can't remember the last time an EP was put out by the band (if ever).

It was official but all Bounce era b-sides and some acoustic cuts. I believe they did one for HAND as well with live tracks but Bon Jovi aren't really a band that releases EPs. Saying Richie should is a fair thing and I don't agree that he doesn't have a reason to. After a certain point of years recording you have to let go of it eventually or you'll keep finding things to change and keep recording new songs. That's enough of a reason to test the market. Putting out Engine 19 or the full I got you babe or even Lighthouse, all of which were used to tease the public and probably now won't make the record due to the amount of material recorded.

Whetting the appetite of your fanbase = good. Constantly saying it's coming soon, saying you'll release songs and videos and then not = iffy decision making.

EDIT: Whoops. I saw Gabriel's footer pic of Richie and "He" And my mind farted. I thought he was talking about Richie. Not AT ALL. My bad!

Well we've now heard from Phil that he wasn't in on THINFS until the last minute and just re recorded some guitar parts - but they've talked about writing and he wants to play on any new record.

I think when Jon went back to Universal they probably told him he needed a full band...

I wonder if it was from the label or himself realizing it. Having the band look like a trio has always been avoided. Even Hugh was on the Real Life single cover when Dave was injured, probably to make it look like a full band.

Hmm but weren't those songs part of the album recording sessions?
