That doesn't make any sense. The other version of Does Anybody was included, so there's no reason that the realeased version would have different licencing. Obie said it was lost when he was asked.

And Rosie has exactly the same co-writers as Wild Is The Wind, so i doubt there were any licence issues there. The fact that it was featured on Stranger is irrelevant, especially as that record is owned by the same label.

It would be great if there was a polished, high-quality version of Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die like We Rule The Night for the 2004 Box Set.

Absolutely no way the tracks released on the bonus deluxe edition of New Jersey are Bruce Fairbairn Little Mountain Studio studio tracked multitracks unless they are unbelievably badly mixed (which could be possible) — that studio was great sounding for drums and not a demo studio —- They sound like the same source as the already leaked rehearsal studio ones from the writing/demo sessions for the album - hence Jon’s still messing with lyrics - lead melody for Does Anyone Fall In Love etc …… some of the takes released were different from the previous released bootleg of these ….
In 1988 we were still pre Pro Tools so these bands would track on the floor live and edit takes together so there was a basic track of drums bass and possibly guitar. Then came overdubs hence the list of what was required which Bruce Fairbairn used. Obviously House Of Fire was offered to Bon Jovi from Desmond and when they chose not to use it it was given to Alice Cooper - likely Jon and Richie would have had writing credits (like Alice did for Trash) if it was used for the Bon Jovi album.
Compare all of New Jersey - Boys are Back and Love Is War official releases and that is fully mixed Mountain studios recordings - whether ALL the tracks on Faibairns list were totally finished recording wise is something we have never been told - chances are they may never have been mixed so maybe on a shelf as multitracks ……. The same went with the last box set where Obie mixed Keep The Faith and These Days multitracks that were originally produced by Bob Rock and Peter Collins - they certainly were not the same sounding mixes as the albums the tracks came from …..
I’d love to think there is completed multitracks of the bonus deluxe tracks and one day a professional mixer (Chris Lord Alge etc) mixes them and a New Jersey - Sons Of Beaches box box set is released ….. doubtful as it seems the unreleased material is never given the budget to have a named professional mixer ……

Just dropping by, I have nothing to add to what has been posted but just wanted to say I am loving the debate and discussion regarding these tracks. So much insight from so many posters from whom I’ve enjoyed reading over so many years. This message board almost died a death but is alight with excitement with some great contributions again. Thanks all!

Also, if only they employed Dom to sort through that archive and put his expertise in salvaging what’s in the vault! They have surely missed a trick there!

I’ve just had a listen to the deluxe edition bonus tracks/demos - the vocals just don’t don’t sound finished studio performance/edit - it’s sound s like a full band run through in the studio - hence something like Full Moon High ends with some messing around - the vocal is probably an on the floor live take just like ‘Starting All Over Again’ from the box set. This could actually be Little Mountain Studios but it’s a very rough bounce down/mix as they were using distance mics on the drums at this studio taking the drum sound from another room to enhance and it’s certainly not used here - Did the band tracks just demos and then just finish what needed to be ? However ‘Love Is War’ came out as a b side (everything tracked to a finished/mixed studio standard version) which suggests that maybe more or all were completed to more than demo stage (hence the production sheet ticking parts completed). Using the demo mix or tidying it up would have been easier and much cheaper than transferring all the old half inch tape to pro tools and mixing from scratch if indeed it exists ………. The same could go for how much was recorded for Slippery with Bruce.

Oh wow. A higher tempo Livin in Sin and BORN IN THE 60's. That's been on ASCAP forever and had zero idea it was a New Jersey demo.
