I think that day would come sooner or later, they just didn't expect it to happen like this. Rumours of Richie and Jon not getting along like they used to go back all the way to before the Have A Nice Day tour. Things just really fell apart once Richie fell off the wagon and slowly became a liability.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I love playing devil's advocate, so come on, Jon and the rest of the band are also to blame for this going off the rails.

I find it funny that they use Richie as a piñata to point the blame, when from my point of view, the big victim was always Richie, since he was involved in a machinery that was very difficult to get out of. Jon pushed things in such a way that he broke Richie for good, and he broke himself too, his voice is gone.

Now Jon wants to look humble by saying that he wants to do shorter tours for the good of the band and blah blah blah, sorry Jon, you applied this too late.

I'm grateful to have so many albums and tours in the 00's but in the end the excess takes its toll. So casting Richie as the traitorous pig who didn't show up to Calgary is a speech I've never bought and never will.

The problems could already be seen from afar, and Jon didn't give a shit, and he continued pushing and hitting. He is a great business CEO but on a human level with his gang, he has been an exploiter of his employees. And I guess he can justify himself by saying, "hey I didn't put a gun on them, I didn't force them, and I made them they a lot of money" , which is a shitty answer to serve alone to your purposes.

I agree with all you say. I think that if Richie had left the band on "good terms", meaning that he had announced that we wanted out prior to the What About Now cycle, it would have been easier for him to come back one day. But considering how it turned out, I think Jon has a hard time letting go of Richie's betrayal of the rest of the band and the entire Bon Jovi organization. He has put a lot of emphasis in recent years on how much he values the loyalty that David and Tico and the rest of the band have shown him.

One thing I noticed in the video of Calgary 2013 concert.

Jon was really in good shape vocally there.

I think the real question is, how much will this cost?

I personally think that they don't even know that's why they are giving us this free trial. Letting Supply and Demand check in.

Agree.
David still sounds pissed off. So I guess jon has to take how everyone feels if richie asked back (I don't think he will be) not just himself

Jon's voice sounds good here, in 2015. Weird how bad it sounded on tour

There's a lot of projectng your own feelings onto how you think Jon was feeling though. You're making up answers of what you think he said and then chastising him for what you think he thought. I mean, again, people aren't mad at Richie for standing his groud, it's how he chose to do it. You can't devil's advocate your way out of agreeing that it was a shitty way to do it.

The Richie returning discussion runs in circles... Of course Richie made mistakes and said some things but its been 10 years, they are nt getting younger and i hope they wont hold grudges and make up
