I definitely preferred Because We Can to the first time I heard We Weren't Born To Follow. I think it was pretty catchy but far from the best thing they have released. I need another listen!!

Fortunately I'm at work and completely unable to listen......
From what I've seen here, I'm not missing anything and am probably better off for not having heard it. After all, you can't undo something you've seen/heard!

For the record, I am not one of those who actually enjoys bashing the band. The demise of Bon Jovi's songwriting efforts and therefore the slow decline of quality albums has been awful to watch/listen to and trying to defend them has now, officially, become futile.

The reason why this wasn't leaked is now evident. Not just the marketing buzz but also the lesson learned from WWBTF - the backlash saw Richie go back into the studio to re-record his drippy little diad solo. Here, I would even be surprised if Richie was in the studio at all for this.

From what, I am sure, Jon considers a foot-stomping opening, we see Bon Jovi resort to One Direction-esque cheese and a re-hash of a 'riff' from one of their most divisive songs of their catalogue in Capt. Crash. I hate Crash, it's not even remotely as well liked as Jon seems to think it is but dear God, give any song from the poorly put-together Crush over this, give me any track from the trend-chasing HAND album - at least they actually contained guitar.

I was protecting myself, not expecting much but holy sh*t... holy f*cking sh*t this is actually shocking. Every bonus track on the Greatest Hits is better than this. It's weak, it's simplistic, it's boring, it's got zero character or personality and they named the whole tour after it.

I was holding out a shred of hope that they might actually try and do something that is at least entertaining and not cringeworthy... I shouldn't have bothered.

I am going to get personal now... if you like this, if you truly do like this as a piece of music from a band that have survived 30 years in the music industry - a band that wrote Wanted... Dead or Alive, Living In Sin, Keep The Faith and Hey God... then you really would listen to Jon sharting down a microphone and call it genius.

Agreed. I think if the song had just a decent guitar solo it would have gone down a lot better.

Thinking the same thing.

The song, listening to it on iheart, isn't horrible, just over-produced, not enough guitar, and lousy backing vocals.

I'm disappointed as everyone thinks this board is really negative, so was hoping this would get some good reviews and get everyone excited again. But its really hard to get more excitement from that. The production was horrible, the start sounded like No Apologies and I'm still shaking my head over the guitar work. It may not have been as bad if the tone was better, it sounded more like a keyboard than a guitar.

I don't want to be too harsh on it, I need to hear the proper version through a stereo as the stream may accentuate some bad points, but I hoped for a lot more than that. It was pretty much ok until the solo, nothing groundbreaking, but the kiddie guitar work lost me completely. After listening to Aftermath this morning, that solo is shameful. It must be a song done while Richie was concentrating on his solo record, but surely he could see that and come up with something better. Both there solo projects have given us hope, but the feeling is underwhelming for me. I dont doubt the album will be decent, but this sounds a poor choice of lead single.

But then, who knows, maybe the radio will love it and it will be huge and we will be left scratching our heads!
