Good question. Maybe he does what it seems a lot of people do in these situations, he's rationalizing that only the loons and assholes would bother to publicly complain, and thus it's a fringe minority and he can ignore their criticism. Or maybe he doesn't have the guts to bring it up to Jon Bon. Or he doesn't care because he gets a nice paycheck come March.

I wish the band would go with a new producer since Shanks is now the producer with the most albums with the band. This deviates from their history.

That said.... the reaction of some to the new single is just off. It's a single that was designed for mass consumption and it does work whether you like it or not. You simply cannot hold BWC up and compare it to past work or use it to gauge the album. It's been designed to get lodged in the brain of anyone that is within earshot of it. The chorus is repetitive with the melody of the chorus done instrumentally twice. It's a commercial jingle that's been engineered for a world with a ridiculously short attention span and it has achieved that goal. It obviously does not reflect the album anymore than WWBTF reflected The Circle.

I don't understand because they aren't songs with killer riff and guitar solos, they will always be criticized for not doing this, useless.

So sometimes hate this band. They should leave that shit and come out with a winning rock song.

Foo Fighters is a great example, they make great songs for radio and stadium.

The Pretender

Walk

Rope

This time like these

Best of You

Wheels

I miss the artistic quality of a Bon Jovi song, I miss the real rock, there are many ways to sell a great album. But they have to show their true talent, and I think that has been lost.

Afterman of The Lowdown not a perfect album, but it's an honest album, and there are rock songs. With John Shanks reach this level is impossible.

People expecting bigs songs and chorus's will be disappointed. Those days are long gone. The last 2 albums haven't had any big songs on with a big chorus

I disagree, the last two albums have had plenty of big choruses in my opinion.

I don't have nothing against "cheesy pop music", because if Jon say "Hey, this is going to be a pop record with bits of dubstep*" and it is good pop/dubstep music, maybe I'd like it. The thing is when the music itself is bad, doesn't matter the genre.

I don't know if you get me, musically, I Wanna Go by Britney Spears is the biggest bucket of crap you can find, but it's a nice pop song. This is not.

*Just imagine it: IT'S-MY-WUBWUBWUBpjjjjjjjjjjjjWIIIIIIIIIIIWAWshhhh*richie' s guitar here*DUMDUMDUMWUBUWUB-LIFE

After listening to the single quite a few (and already too many) times I'm more and more getting the impression that this song was just recorded by Jon, John Shanks and maybe Bobby.
David is nowhere to be found...the keyboard licks are that simple even I could play them (and that's saying a lot), the drums sound programmed and not like Tico at all (in the single version at around 2:52 when the song goes back to the chorus - that's in my opinion not the way Tico would be drumming in such a situation). Richie shines as much as Dave on the record - the solo could be easily from Bobby or Jon. And even the backing vocals - that's Jon backing himself up, again no sign of another band member.
Either really no one appeared for the recording of this song (for good reasons) or Shanks finally managed it to produce the shit that much out of the song that you can't recognize any band member anymore.

I don't think that Richie did not had nothing to do because:
  1. He's a co-writer
  2. You can clearly hear him on the "We caaan, our love can move a mountain" and on the shouts between "I am a rock not another grain of sand" and "I wanna be the one you run to when you need a shoulder".

I just think that he didn't give much of a **** while writing this and Shanks finished to destroy this.

Offtopic: I've listened it over 160 times. Stupid sexy Jon.
