Default Blood In The Water - the best post-TD era song?

I couldn't care less about sounding like a biased fanboy, but THIS. SONG. IS. JUST. F*CKING. EPIC.

Poor man's Dry County whatever, but this is easily the best track Bon Jovi have made since 1995, at least for me.

What do you think?

I think there is definitely a case to be made that it is up there as the best post-95 song in their catalog. Personally, I think Lower The Flag is a better song (and the best song on 2020). The progression from LTF to BITW is one of the best moments on any Bon Jovi album.

Dry County suffers somewhat from being preceded and followed by relatively weak songs.

I am so far removed from the tracklisting that got released, I can't even imagine these songs going into each other. I had such a hard time with the flow they chose and go the original all the way. NOTHNG should follow BITW.

If I were to do a Top 5 best post-TD songs I would easily put Blood in the Water, Lower the Flag and Luv Can there. Damn they are among my favorite Jovi songs to this date!

As Butters said the progression of LtF -> BitW is one of the best things Bon Jovi ever did. Just epic. If Story of Love'd came before LtF, as it was supposed to on the original tracklist, it would have been even more!

A song of family -> But what if this family was ripped apart? -> Live with your family smelling blood in the water all the time...

I think you could be right...just shows how poor Jovi have been since These Days...

Just off the top of my head, top quality songs since then IMO:
- Just Older
- Stay
- Undivided (Another Reason to Believe as a B side is very good)
- Have a nice day
- Last man standing
- When we were beautiful
- Blood in the Water

And yes, I think I would put BITW at the top...imagine it played properly with Richie on guitar and Jon and production TD style ❤️

Upps, forgot:
- Teardrop (possibly Who would you die for and Fingerprints too)

Would LOVE a band version of Stay with Richie's vocals/guitar.

Agree 100%. Just letting classic Richie do proper solos on the decent songs would make them way better...even on the weaker ones. Why you would decide to waste such a talent is beyond me; I understand Jon following the trends and doing pop-rock junk, but 2 or 3 songs letting Richie put some feel into them would have been good.

For them being your favourite, you don't remember the title too well

I honestly think that, in terms of melody, BITW is better than DC.
Not the song, just the overall melody. Dry County is much more epic, but without the breathtaking intstrumenation, the core of the song, especially its chorus, is rather standard.

Spot on

DC it's a good song but so over rated around here...

If BITW had another solo at the end, it would be the best one for sure...
