👍 forgot some of those and really got to listen to Luv Can; I don’t get the hype yet, but then again I thought MAM was a terrible single and now really appreciate it.

If we’re talking about ‘quality’, I do think we need to differentiate between our ‘favourites’ and top quality songs though. For example, ‘Welcome to wherever you are’ is my favourite post TD song, but I wouldn’t put it in their (his) top 10 post 2000 list.

One thing is personal favourites and another is a well structured song.

Mam is one of their best in last 15 years.....but an awful single.
Although I liked the video.

Stay is the one song above any other that should've been a single, let alone on the actual album. It's so dam powerful and emotive.
I'd get rid of a couple and add Nothing & Brokenpromiseland in there.

I don't agree with that. I wish the band released more songs like this as singles that are unexpected. It would have done a lot to show the public how diverse their catalog always was.

Imagine if Mystery Train had been released instead of TYFLM; Undivided and The Distance instead of Misunderstood and AALY; Love's the Only Rule instead of WWBTF; What's Left of Me instead of BWC?

I don't think it's a bad single but I think it was a bad first single to release.

Yeah that’s what I meant.
Feel the same about when TAALS was released.
(I should be over that seeing as it was 25 years ago )

Yeah, fair enough, but it did very well on the charts.

I remember there was a lot of trepidation about "the country album" on this board and then a clip of Jon playing this song live from some (fashion?) event leaked and he sounded incredible. The feeling on this board was very positive if I remember correctly.

Pretty much! There was one step prior to then when 15 seconds-or-so samples of a handful of tracks were leaked online months before release from a marketing website to determine what the first single should be. They were edited to have the meat of the hook and some of the outro and I think we heard bits of Memory, I Love This Town, Any Other Day and one other but I'm blanking and I recall Memory really impressing a lot of the board.

You all got it wrong, ‘Temptation’ is the best post 00 song, by far. It’s scientifically proven.
