Teardrop to the sea is troubling me, its like a destination anywhere song which I love, but with Shanks production which I'm not a fan of.

I like it when Jon writes more downbeat lyrics and these aren't bad. In fact, "Can't hear a heartbreak, The music's too loud." is a very good lyric IMO.

I think I need to hear the rest of the album to be able to rank it.

WDR - 9 No doubt one of the best post-HAND songs.
Teardrop - 8 Love the distortions and the general mood. I'd be happy if there was another Teardrop or Room on the next album.
Sunday Morning - 5 Too generic.
Blind Love - 3. Combining the guitar and the piano made me think it was actually a lullaby.

I'm actually enjoying Blind Love. It's much better than other soft ballads (i.e. The Fighter). Maybe it's because of my interpretation of the lyrics. To me it's about someone who is trying to push pass the pain of losing someone (I recently lost my grand mother to cancer, just two months ago).

"No one said it'd be easy, but no one said it'd be this hard"

"With every moment I'm away, we're getting close to the day, we'll never have to say goodbye love"

"Welcome to another hard night, you've made it through another day"

Makes me a little teary, in fact. Kinda like the video clip of Make a Memory. It makes me miss my Nonna even more, but in a nice way.
I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm glad you found comfort in this song. I'm even more grateful that you shared your story. This has just been a horrific week for me. Besides the ADD stuff I whined about earlier, my week started out with a trip home to do an innventory on my brother's estate and I go tomorrow to sell his house. He was my only sibling and has always been my biggest supporter. He had cancer, too, Anthony. We put him in a hospice house in December and he died on January 8th. I haven't been able to listen to, much less sing, The Story of My Life since, because Steve was supposed to be by my side when I wrote my last page.

I initially heard these lyrics as a love song; but after I read your beautiful interpretation, the 'December' and 'January' jumped off the screen and It took on a completely different meaning for me.

Thank you for reminding me that every exhausting and emotional day takes me closer to a day when I won't have to say good-bye to the people I love. I think I may have forgotten that.

Blind Love is a song that needed a powerful chorus to work. If the actual chorus was sang in a higher voice, it would be a cool song. But the way it is is just plain boring.

On first listen, I felt the same with Teardrop. If it had a powerful chorus it would be a killer song. The verses are pretty good, and the dark tone all around the song is very nice.

But I really like the change of direction. IMO, We Don't Run is the best song since IML, and it doesn't give you that feeling of "yeah, the same song again". Teardrop also sounds very fresh and is a very good song.

It's incredible how they could release such a crap album as What About Now. With the exception of I'm With You (which I love), these fours songs are better than anything in there.

Oh wow, thank you as well for sharing your heartbreaking but beautiful story. I'm happy we can both find comfort in this song. It'll get easier with time. I wish you all the best with the house stuff, truly.

I like Jon's more natural vocal and the production works with this one. I love the twists and turns within the chorus.
I think Teardrop is actually better than WDR, and I'd say it's my favourite Jovi track since Novocaine.

Listened to Blind Love a few more times. I'm actually starting to like it a lot. Lot better than The Fighter or Amen or really any 100% true ballad in the last few years.

Personally, I think all 4 are better than 80% of What about Now.

BTW, lyrics usually don't do this, but when I listen to Blind Love and really listen to the lyrics, It gives me goosebumps.

I lost my grandfather two weeks ago. I can't even explain how much Teardrop means to me at the moment.

This band is just amazing.
