Teardrop is the better effort of the two (by a long way) but it stays mid-tempo all the way through and falls well short of the 'Something To Believe In' comparisons made above. STBI moves up a gear and really has a lot of balls during the latter half whereas this just sounds flat, empty and uninteresting. It should have been developed more as it does sound like a demo, as was pointed out earlier. Plus who the hell played the solo? The tone is awful and it sounds like bend it like Bandiera.

I also just don't think Jon's voice can cut it any more in the studio. He's struggled live for a decade and a half, as we all know, but these last few years, it's very clear the band are playing to his voice limitations which are becoming increasingly restricted with every outing.

He has a point, though?

As much as I like 'A Teardrop To The Sea' it does lack that kick at the end that Jon would have done without any hesitation 10-20 years ago.

I quite like his vocals on the song having said that. I like the 'live' sound he has to his voice which makes me think he wouldn't struggle too much with it live. I do like when he gets a bit more aggressive a lot, as well. Bit of passion in his vocals there, in my opinion.

The solo is quite poor, though. A Sambora sound to it would be perfect. This is when we miss him.

Blind Love is pretty dull but it's not without merit.

I'm really liking the sound that this album overall, it's a real shame that this is going to be a hidden album to all but the fans really as there's a lot of good, and more importantly different, sounds that could have really hooked in the record buying public. It's a real shame that a song as exciting as We Don't Run will not be pushed as a proper lead single. But here's hoping that the new album in 2016 will be even better.
If A Teardrop To The Sea was ment to be on WAN I'm glad that it didn't make it on the album because it would have been overshadowed by all the shitty songs that it contained.

Doesn't anybody else consider that initial "Ahhh love pick me up!" line in the final chorus to be a 'kick' at the end? I certainly get a kick out of it. It's the most ballsy Jon's sounded since HAND, or maybe even the "I"s in Undivided.

I liken the solo to somebody crying in agony, like an actual emotional outburst - not just a for-the-sake-of-it guitar toss that Sambora's been letting rip for the past 10 years (though it's most likely that Jon has to do with that situation).

I really, really think this is the song that I've been waiting for. It's so different to anything they've done in ages - the guitar, the percussion, the vocals, lyrics... I could go on and on.

Yeah, I do. It's definitely got a kick to it but I also see what people are saying. After that initial part, it goes back to being the same tempo pretty much apart from the odd word or two.

Deb, I just bought them off itunes and think you will like them. Definite DA vibe and you know I love that album.

I am actually surprised how much I like Teardrops and Blind love. But I always loved this style Jon/Jovi.

And I also understand what you mean, tempo-wise. This may sound like a cop-out, but I almost feel as though the song is meant to sound somewhat broken or disjointed - as though it reflects how the narrator feels in the given situation (whatever that may be). I seriously can't get enough of this song.
