Surprised to hear Richie doing the backing vocals. Nice find DryCounty.
If I can ask, why are you surprised?

Only for the reason that I have listened to the song a fair few times and didn't pick up his voice once.

Oh! That's so weird, that was one of the first things I picked up, their harmonies. Damn I miss them.

I miss them too. I actually like the new lineup and I like Phil's guitar. But I miss Richie's voice like mad

Definitely agree with this Kathleen. I also like Phil a lot... But Richie...and his voice with Jon's...Still missed. Hard to believe it's been 4 years already. Time flies.

So I listened to the Juliet Simms version. The drums and bass sounded WAN-ish, so it's a pretty safe bet that the final BJ version (if it existed) would sound similar to hers.

Has the Juliet Simms version surfaced in better quality in the meantime? The version I have sounds worse than "Nothing" in the chorus (considering noise and artifacts)...

This is still the best version around quality wise:
There is some noise to be heard, but IMO not worse than on Nothing.

Btw. someone mashed both versions (Bon Jovi's and hers) together:
