98. Don't quote me but by late 98, early 99 J+R were already writing together.

The listening party was the last weekend of August 1998 and by then, the tracks for the album were already recorded as they played it. So yeah, late 1998 probably. I think it was originally put on hold due to him wanting to do U-571 and as that went on, the band pressed on getting back together.

Yeah that checks out. The Florida Fan Clubb (I think?) band show was October of '98 and filming of U571 was Jan 25, 1999 - May 30, 1999. Jon has mentioned Captain Crash was wrritten when Richie visted him on set too.
