I agree with most of what’s been said on this thread. I do like the melody, though, even if it’s generic and predictable (as almost any Xmas song is if you ask me).

In 1992, this could have sounded amazing. Even now, I’ll be happy to add it into my Xmas playlist. Cute lyrics.

Jon has never lost his ability to write a good melody at least. I agree with previous posts saying Jon and Richie of the past might have made this something interesting. As it is, the song is a throwaway cash grab. It is ok, boring I suppose because of how simple it is. I also struggle to understand what Jon is saying sometimes.

I just hope that "everyone" puts a greater effort into the new album. All of this sounds bad because there is no real intention to make it good.

I was always struck by the fact that Burning Bridges, When We Were Us and Walls, Jon and the band sounded pretty good, but the THINFS album was a mess.

I wish John Shanks wasn't the producer and Obie was away from the mixing desk. Any producer will do for me, even Howard Benson would have done a much better polished and interesting job than all this.

Well, more like any new song is welcome.

I'm glad I have this, but it could have easily been better. Jon's voice is not in its best state, ok, but that sound is terrible, he even has that uncomfortable thing in the sound of his voice, as if you had used software to separate the vocal tracks of an already mixed song.. and you can listen those typical small uncleaned and somewhat compressed artifacts.

I think the song is okay, but the vocals are so bad. Whatever studio magic has been used means it is just about tolerable, but I'm not surprised to hear that people realitively unfamiliar with Jon's vocal decline are shocked by what they are hearing.

However, I think that if if his voice sounded without those digital artifacts, it would be more pleasant. Since it is distracting and annoying when you listen to it.

Listened to it a couple of times.. some nice bits and pieces in there. Overall its not a track i d go back and listen multiple times but still its well crafted and succeeds its purpose.
Jons voice starts shaky but when the song moves on feels much better, comfortable and even powerful, i am sure there is heavy used studio trickery but even though the last chorus after the 3 min mark jon sounds Great.
Delivering the lyrics with style and conviction..
My take is that its a nice Christmas song, they cut it live at first and wanted to keep a less processed vocal, to sound more natural. (listen to the first line and compare it in the last chorus when it is repeated...day and night)

ps. Richies harmonies would take the song a lvl higher.

Terrible song. I’m a big christmas-songs lover but I don’t think there is anything memorable about the song. Feels like it was written in 30 minutes just for the sake to sound a little Christmas-y. Still have high hopes for the album though. Judging from 2020 we know Jon can still write some good songs.
