You're glad that it "flopped", which it didn't?

I don't understand some people on here. You want the band to fail, yet you continue to go see them in concert.

Because some want the quality music back even though they still enjoy the band

I wouldn't say it was a flop, it reached the same position as pretty much the last 6 albums. Sales are down, but they are down for everyone for the most part. Some weeks those sales would have been enough for No.1- some weeks last year the No.1 album here sold a paltry 13k. Other weeks those figures would have it at the lower end of the top 10. Plus the promo was pretty lazy, as the fact that numbers of albums shifted isnt the be all and end all anymore.

It'll probably drop like a stone as per usual, but thats because any promotion done is to ensure a week 1 peak, they will give up then, especially as we don't have any additional singles on video play any more to promote the album.

Also I was looking at Greatest Hits sales, and it's really weird how it has sold 220,000+ in Canada (enough to be Double Platinum) but still it has no certifications.
Ah so annyoing when they do that. It's like Have a Nice Day in Germany. Went to number one and sold enough to be platinum (I think) but it was never added on the official list, despite all the other albums before and after it being on there.

Huge drop.

The Circle opened with 75,114 and the Greatest Hits with 87,145.

On both the comments about failure and the lacklustre sales...

I think some people are at the stage where general apathy has been replaced by the feeling that Jon needs to take a kick in the backside to make him realise he should just write for himself and not chase a fad.

Personally, despite my apathy, I would never want the band to fail, even if I don't buy another ticket or track again.

Failure is relative to the times we live in. They'll sell 3 million worldwide and it'll be sh*t by their standards but not a failure in today's market.

Also, it won't change anything as Jon does what Jon does and - as I have said before - when some young band get a BIG hit in the US with a song that sounds like it came straight off of NJ, he'll be reclaiming his roots faster than John Shanks can say 'I can do rock, honest.'

Shanks CAN do rock, but it's not what the band is paying him for.
