I'm catching up on some of the (many) interviews Jon did today, and in one of them he says that Legendary "isn't even close to the best song on the record". He wasn't playing down Legendary; just bigging up the album. Nevertheless, it is not something I have ever heard him say about a lead single before.

I'll go on a limb and say Jon was referring to Kiss The Bride, the marriage song "for the next 100 years" as he said.

When Jon says this is a return to "feel good Bon Jovi", I take it he means in comparison to 2020. I very much doubt he sits and contemplates if this is a rock song compared to Keep The Faith.

Judging solely from the length of the songs on the album, I do not expect any guitar solos

Avd if everyone is honest with themselves, no matter what kind of solo we do get, if any, it likely won't be up to a majority's expectations anyway.

yea, I'm mostly just listening for curiosity sake, as they used to be my favorite band. I've listened to These Days probably around a thousand times and still counting. I've probably listened to 2020 6 or 7 times and will likely never listen to it again.

you're probably right in jon's mind it was in comparison to 2020, where it should be in comparison to New Jersey in his thinking if feel good Bon Jovi is his goal. Doesn't have to sound like Keep The Faith, just get out of first gear.

lack of guitar solos isn't a primary concern for me, I mean Undivided is one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs and what passes for a solo on that song is nothing to write home about or anything like on say Damned for instance.

.
But marketing this as a "return to feel good" isn't wrong regardless of what mental gymnastics are needed to argue it. The last album wasn't a feel good album this one is hence a return to the classic feel good optimism. The same way The Circle was marketed as a return to rock, the last one was country-leaning. HAND had This Left...berfore it. It may not check our boxes of what rock or feel good is but if they're comparing it to the most recent release, is it wrong to say?

OOH that is neat. The last time I've heard him openly "meh" something was the label choosing What Do Ya Got, his least favourite of the 4 new songs.

Don't get me wrong, he was positive about Legendary but just said it's not close to the best song on the album. That's how positive he is about the album.
