The artwork is horrible.
Then people would have complained it was too short and "all you had to do was add a...." and so forth.

I haven't posted in many moons so apologies if this has already been said - but feels like a bit of a rip off of Old Dominion's "Song for Another Time" in the chorus

Of course they embraced that. And that's fine.

It's still a pretty mediocre (*edited from trashy, it's not that bad) song compared to what I'd expect of these sort of BJ singles.

I still love love THINFS, it ain't perfect but I listen to it regularly. I rarely listen to their classic records records no matter how good they are, it's an era that's long gone and I have to be in the mood for it. I do listen to TD from time to time but it's the lyrics, the introspection, the quality of the music what draws me to it time and again, not the guitars. While I love rock and listen to lots of rock, I'm ok with BJ being a pop rock band that has poppy, throwaway singles, lots of skip songs and a couple of gems in almost every record. I tend to gravitate towards these songs as they mean something or resonate with me. I don't expect their singles to mean anything to me (although We Don't Run, THINFS and When We Were Us strike the perfect balance between catchy, radio-friendly and somewhat deserving of a place in their legacy), I know it's just a commercial commitment.

Having said that, I also have perfectly functional ears, and this one is really bad

Played it for a few friends who like Bon Jovi. No die-hards but still quite knowledgeable with the catalogue and very high praises for the song. One quoted it as ”easily a top 10 Bon Jovi song”. Not saying it means anything but still nice to hear people who don’t spend every day analyzing the band enjoying the song.

Some fans are naive, to say bring Richie Sambora back all will be well! Sack Shanks! looking at the YouTube comments to the song.

a) Jon is 62
b) The Band has matured. There isn't going to a return to the 80's/90's era
c) the past 24 years, you know what sound you going to get.

I do agree with the comments about a lack of guitar solo, but that happened when Richie Sambora was there as well on some Albums ( WAN)

I accept Bon Jovi as they are now. Band is pop. Hoping for anything else is wishful thinking.

Why some fans still have unrealistic hopes, you know how current Bon Jovi will sound.

If people like it, great - but that is a particularly outlandish opinion

That's weird I've seen not seen much poistive about it at all on social media in non-Bon Jovi fan base areas.

To make it clear, it’s not my personal opinion. I just think it’s refreshing to ask the opinion from people who don’t live and die for Bon Jovi like us.

It's never been un-cooler to like this band. It doesn't matter what they put out, it's not going to be recieved close to what the older singles were. I'm not saying the song is good or they're right or wrong though. I just don't think this will do much on the radio/charts/whatever for reasons bigger than it's a bad song.

There's a massive world out there that goes to the shows, hears the songs they loved growing up, takes a pee break when a song they don't know is played and they go home and not give the stuff that piss us off a second, third or fourth thought. My wife LOVES Captain Crash and has only seen them once in 2013 with me. We gotta remember stuff like that when it comes to what people actually think.
