Man, that's just a load of overblown pomp, lacking all the levity and playfulness Billy's best work had. I love some of his work, but this sounds way too serious and pompous for its own good. That's some cheesy Scandi metal shit.

Unfortunately, as soon as they revealed the title "Legendary" after Music Cares, I figured it would be a tired, cliched (isn't everything being referred to as "legendary" these days?), generic half-effort, and that's exactly what we've been given.

They have a perfectly capable and talented band of musicians in this band, but somehow they all sound blurred and buried in the mix where none of them stand out. The entire song just reeks of an eagerness to be done and over with. Why is Phil X in this band when Shanks can easily fulfill the role of a mediocre guitarist? Why is Tico playing the same tired drum licks since "Crush"? (For all you RS loyalists, this is still exactly what we'd be getting if he was still in the band. He hasn't exactly done anything since he left).

My least favorite part in this cycle is that they named the new album "Forever", with a picture of Jon in a coat reminiscent of the New Jersey era on the cover - a picture-perfect definition of a band riding its past. I will certainly buy the album when it's out and I will give it a fair spin just like I did with the last 4-5 turds they produced, but if "Legendary" is any indication of the next record then I can safely assume that it will be just another assembly-line Non-Jovi record, or alternatively "Bon Jovi & Friends" as I've been referring to everything released under the Bon Jovi moniker since circa 2007.

I'm happy for the band being happy with where they are now. They still have one thing going for them and that's their ability to keep my attention even though they've been disappointing for the better part of the last two decades now. I hope they get to tour again and end it all on a high note at some point. Whatever happens next, I know this next tour will be the only time we'll ever have to sit through "Legendary" live.
well said.
2020 was the first album I didn't bother to buy and I doubt I will end up buying Forever.
Even though the last 2 albums were horrendous, I can't quit the band completely and will always check out a new album.
Bon Jovi sounds old and tired while other legacy acts like Metallica still sound young and vibrant.

I'm actually excited to see this new record! Don't expect nothing out of the normal line, but, if there's something, I'll be glad, just like I was with Luv Can, in 2020.

Aaand I didn't buy 2020. The only way I'd do it was if my country had the version with the bonus tracks. Well it has not.

Dont understand this, 2020 is in my opinion the best album after These days, at least HAND.

2020 has the best production of the Shanks albums.
Sounds mature and serious.
Track 4-9 a very good Flow
Instrumental interesting bits in Blood in the water, the crescendo of Story of love, Phil X's guitar playing in Beautiful drug and the organic sound in Let it rain and Brothers in arms.
Lyrically and melodically haunting lower the flag.

Agreed. 2020 is by far best Shanks production when he is (in majority) in charge. So, IMO, from 2005 to now, 2020 is best produced album. Also, I do think this is the best Bon Jovi collection of songs since These Days, which is rather tragic at first. If only duds like Do what you can were excluded, with time it would be considered really solid if not vintage album. But perhaps enough difference is that Shanks lets these songs breathe

Agreed on 2020 having the best production (for most parts, except Limitless etc.) since Lost Highway. But most of the songs feel dire and Jon's voice hinders all of the ones with a bit of rock attitude. Though I feel it supports the feel of Lower The Flag.

Fair enough and I would agree. For example for Blood in the Waters, would I prefer 1995 vocal of Jon? No doubt. But compared to WAN vocals, I'd rather have 2020 fragile voice, at least it makes song more honest
