Charts count for nothing these days especially singles. Even the Foos who are arguably one of the biggest bands in the world of the last 10-15 years are not cracking the charts like they were 5-6 years ago over here.....I think the cause is probably the death of the 7" single the cd single. I used to get them all the time, literally got near on a 1000, not to mention double that in vinyl albums and cds.

Its all about streaming now legendry seems to be holding up very well at the moment

But the singles charts ARE based on streaming too. There is very little in the way of physical releases for singles these days, and the sales of those are generally not large, so the singles chart does represent streaming quite well. However, rock fans generally are more album orientated than pop artists, so they don't tend to do well on singles charts. People mostly wait for the album.

Don't the charts count streaming now too?

there is official sales charts and then streaming charts i believe .....Cant even remember when a " Rock band " had a top 40 song in there, when i say rock i don't mean shit like the killers either lol. Talking ac/dc, gnr, metallica , maiden etc . All these bands have such a huge body of work ( maybe not guns ) that they are classed as legendry ( no pun intended ) and massive loyal fanbases its on the live circuit where they excel and will until they all call it day

official singles charts combined with streaming and downloads a long time ago now. There are seperate charts for each but the main singles chat is a combination.

Legendary now has more YouTube streams than the Christmas song they put out a few months ago

The Christmas song didn't seem to get any real promo. Legendary has had loads by comparison, so I'm not really suprised by that.

The Bon Jovi fanbase is strong enough to produce modest 1st-week numbers in some locations but the general public needs to take over after that which is never going to happen again regardless of what they put out. Some of it is the band's fault and some of it is just what the industry has become. Music as a whole lost its legacy.

So the new single comes out. I'll download it to my phone and that's it. I could listen to it 1000 times but no one would ever know...Then I'll watch the video two or three times and that's it. So I'm good for maybe 3 to 4 streams as a die-hard fan.

Bon Jovi is like Star Wars - The past legacy is enough to always keep fans interested and produce modest numbers regardless of the mediocre products they keep producing. No matter how many times fans are disappointed and criticize the new stuff, they are always going to be there regardless.

For me 2020 starts with 3 of the worst songs in the bands discography.
If I think of the album in a vacuum and forget what this band used to be then some songs are fine like Beautiful Drug though it really needs to lose those ooooos, Story Of Love I don't mind and Brothers In Arms ain't bad but those nananana's are annoying and lifeless. If this album had These Days vocals then maybe some of the coma inducing songs like Lower The Flag and Unbroken would work better. Luv Can and Let It Rain are about as good as a it's gonna get at this point but again still a 150 million miles away from anything on These Days.

This is all true. I think the songwriting was extremely lazy and the production was pretty bad. It's their 4th or 5th tired-sounding record in a row and bringing in a new production team would work wonders for this band. Every one of their albums has usually had some hidden gems on it but it's been less and less over the years. There are couple of good songs on 2020 but a good song on that record is as good as the worst song on any record before Crush. 2020 is by far the worst album they made, if I'm not counting TLFR. I though nothing can go lower than Lost Highway but here we are.
