It's not even radio friendly guff...
I have Heart on in the car and I really can't imagine them playing it.
They'd sooner play Always or Prayer, and I can't say I'd blame them.

I think "We Weren't Born to Follow" es a better studio song than THINFS. The problem of WWBTF are live shows.

Did I say 6.5? I meant 5. It might get down to a 4.

I voted and I am writing this before seeing anyone else's comments.

I liked the song initially heard and seen with the video. Then it somehow got a bit boring. And now, now I like it a lot. Probably played it something like 50 - 80 times. I give it an eight.

I have to say I don't like the guitar work too much. It lacks the punch and the drive of great Bon Jovi songs. The solo is uninspired although it does fit the song. Other instruments are up to the high standard. Jon is himself and I think he does pretty damn well for his age, to be honest.

I am going to put my neck out, and say that I expect Phil to do a lot better on his songs and with this one live alike.

Gave it a 3.

Listened to it 3 or 4 times the day it was released, and haven't played it since.

It's better than anything on WAN, but that isn't saying much. Since I have had no desire to go out of my way to listen to it again, I find it a completely forgettable song.

I'd give it a 7.

The chorus and the "I'm coming home" refrain help make it my favorite first single since Make A Memory, maybe since Have A Nice Day.

According to BJ's fb page the official lyrics are:

https://www.facebook.com/BonJovi/pho...592000/?type=3

But I hear "and my dreams don't fail" in the chorus. Also "swirl my spike into the ground" in the second verse. I think there are a few mistakes overall.

Anyone else?

Here are the lyrics I posted after I first heard it:

http://www.drycounty.com/jovitalk/ne...st1204314.html

As you can see, I thought it was "my dream don't fail" (even tho your version is more grammatically correct, and I tried very very hard to hear an 's' on the end of 'dream' - just to fix it - but I never could hear one!)

And I originally thought it was "Throw my spike into the ground". Like you, someone else heard "swirled". Even though I listened to it again several times after it was suggested, I still couldn't hear the word "swirled". I explained that I was going to stick with "throw" until I heard otherwise, because I thought it was more in keeping with the act of "driving a stake into the ground" to lay claim to a piece of property, or to define the boundary of a plot of land. (IMO, 'throw' would come closer than 'swirl' to the act of "driving" a stake because it would imply the greater force.)

I never even considered "drove" until I saw the official lyrics, because I was thinking present, not past, tense. But since "drove" actually would be the past tense of "driving" a stake into the ground, my guess is that would be exactly what Jon Is saying (even though it still sounds like 'throw' to my ears). LOL

Without double-checking word for word, I think I agreed with everything else in the official lyrics that are posted; so I'd be kinda hard-pressed to say I have a problem with it.
