It's okay as far as modern day Bon Jovi songs go but after a week or so I have no desire to listen to it again.

5/10

As you can see, I thought it was "my dream don't fail" (even tho your version is more grammatically correct, and I tried very very hard to hear an 's' on the end of 'dream' - just to fix it - but I never could hear one!)

And I originally thought it was "Throw my spike into the ground". Like you, someone else heard "swirled". Even though I listened to it again several times after it was suggested, I still couldn't hear the word "swirled". I explained that I was going to stick with "throw" until I heard otherwise, because I thought it was more in keeping with the act of "driving a stake into the ground" to lay claim to a piece of property, or to define the boundary of a plot of land. (IMO, 'throw' would come closer than 'swirl' to the act of "driving" a stake because it would imply the greater force.)

I never even considered "drove" until I saw the official lyrics, because I was thinking present, not past, tense. But since "drove" actually would be the past tense of "driving" a stake into the ground, my guess is that would be exactly what Jon Is saying (even though it still sounds like 'throw' to my ears). LOL

Without double-checking word for word, I think I agreed with everything else in the official lyrics that are posted; so I'd be kinda hard-pressed to say I have a problem with it.
I still hear swirl/swirled but Shank's infamous wall of sound + Jon's less than stellar pronunciation make it very hard to understand clearly. Also, I'm listening to the video and the song on Spotify and don't have quality headphones right now. Maybe that's why I hear "dreams", there seem to be so many effects everywhere, fade ins/echo/whatever pixie dust they sprinkle, it's all muddled. It drives me nuts!

Could anybody be kind enough to separate the vocal track? Is it possible to isolate it with as little effects as possible?

One thing that bugs me about THINFS is that I love Jon's tone much better than in most of the BB tracks, but right now I hear too many effects if I don't sit down in complete silence and concentrate on the song. I hope it will improve once I get the CD, but it used to be much subtle. It sounds too fake and this time I have this feeling it would have sounded much better with a cleaner sound. I hate it when they do this

Edit: Jackie I was trying to PM you but you need to do a little bit of cleaning up

They are just done to cover Jon's vocal flaws

It is an 8 for me, solid.

I love how they were not afraid to release a single with lyrics completely focused on the band's reality more than "universal" lyrics for others to relate to. I found that bold to be honest... it is like (quoting Jon) "they have nothing to prove at this point" and they are comitted to move forward no matter what. I would have liked a darker approach on the matter though.

P.S: am I the only one who thinks the bass during the chorus is kick ass? It feels like Hugh was SO into it.... at least to me xD

Now that the song has been out for a few weeks, I have to say that the song is just okay... Same with the video. If it was a bonus track on BB, I wouldn't have accepted that and wouldn't be like 'how was this song not include on the new album'

I want something bigger and better... A song with some more attitude...

The song has zero target audience. It's a great b side or an album track but not a single...

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see this one going anywhere. I can't even imagine hearing it on the radio... it really doesn't have a target...

I am not in my car driving to work anymore since I take the ferry into the city everyday (I walk from my apartment). But, on a day off last week driving from Long Branch to the city I heard it on 102.7. Not sure what the adds/rotations are in the trip-state are as I haven't checked.

It's getting some radio airplay; according to MediaBase, it's at #17 on the AC chart, up from #55. On the Hot AC chart, it's at #44, up from #52. I'm hearing it on an AC station in Chicago.

You may be right. Though I can't imagine this sounding good live either. Those "I'm coming homes" are gonna be so dull without the wall of sound to buffer Jon's voice.

Forget the wall of sound. Jon is not even gonna try to sing that part. It will be like We Don't Run chorus, with Phil and David doing the heavy duty. It will be pathetic, no doubt.
