Yep, it does. I rarely listen to anything from the last albums but a song or two compared to the classics.

With my previous post, I was thinking short time, like days

Catchy chorus, and I've never seen Shanks with a talkbox so maybe it'll have some cool guitar too?

It's PhilX on the Talkbox.

There's cool stuff on all the records; great ideas even, but IMO it lacks the polish OR the spark to truly give it that super duper heavy impact. The Fire Inside to me is a raw song that's all spark; it's obviously not super produced. Jon can't sing like that anymore, and he probably wouldn't want to write like that anymore either (his current brand of "no holds barred" is lawyer talk lol).

So that leaves the perfectly crafted Hollywood movie equivalents - something like Keep The Faith (the song) with its perfect flow and atmospheric build and all that. That's what they'd have to go for, and that means coming up with perfect arrangements, not just "this will do".

It's PhilX sounding great on the Talkbox. I remember when he first started working with Bon Jovi that Talkbox was a real struggle for him!

I do wish they would let PhilX do more with the guitar parts on all songs. Jon seems to think that the guy who became lead guitarist after Richie left is Shanks! So I guess it actually is Shanks

Goddamn you're going to steal my cynic crown if you're ready to say that clip is worse than The Fire Inside. Easily one of Jon's better performances, granted, but equally one of the worst songs on 100m and he definitely couldn't sing it 2005 let alone 2024. And I'm glad. It grates. Loud isn't always better.

This is definitely my favorite snippet. My fingers are crossed that this snippet isn't lying to us.

They're too different for me to compare. I wouldn't say that Jon with an acoustic guitar and some maracas qualifies as "loud"; IMO the song is pretty intimate, and the first pre-chorus especially (as well as the chord changes in the chorus) actually are its highlights. But it depends on build up and atmosphere. The clip is just hook city (especially since it's just a clip), it's a fully produced song. My point was that if we don't get raw intimacy and vibes, I'd prefer a tight arrangement with lots of detail. Like KTF.

Absolutely this. The wall of sound is killing Bon Jovi songs. Some songs have the blueprint to be good.

I think we haven't had a Shorts link here yet so here we go:

I'm really looking forward to this one. With Richie's last single, it's going to be a nice Friday
