Well if you mean technical expertise then most pop music is absolute crap if you compare it to classical music, there is always something more complex. Just because something is more intricate and crafted doesn't mean it is 'better' because a person who loves one genre may hate another. Personally I like rock/pop music mostly, but can easily listen to classical music too and apreciate it, but I hate stuff like R&B/Hip-hop/Rap because I think it is terrible, whereas some people may be the opposite. Just down to personal taste.

Right. And there are people out there who prefer "Love me back to life" to "Damned" and no one is right, no one is wrong. People have SUCH a vendetta against Crush and Bounce, you see the lenghts they go through. Not only do they not like it, they have to make sure no one else likes it either and must be talked out of liking it.

It isn't that difficult now is it? Or otherwise it's just me

You can try to play the KTF solo on guitar & I can play the solo on guitar. One is playing a better quality solo than the other, that is a fact. probs you

Why do people rephrase posts that are just a few earlier.

Where is said that anyone is making sure no else can like Bounce?

You are just talking technical difficulty, not quality. Something can be very simple technically but can be liked by many people. Think how many rock songs are just a few simple chords

It is only logic you know, taste and quality are a whole different thing
You can't compare taste and quality in an art product. There are no standards in quality art other than you make up. Sure, if you buy a DVD player there are technical differences making one better than the other. But when you ask somebody which quality is better and let them choose between "Yesterday" and "Blackbird", that's a mission impossible.

It is not. Your post implies that all Bon Jovi albums are of EQUAL QUALITY, it's just a matter of opinion that most people prefer These Days. Well it is not. If you ask the authors of the works, Bon Jovi, they will say 7800 is a piece of shit. Richie said many times that the quality of that album could have been better. Now the fact that you like a qualitatively inferior album is your problem. Taste is indeed arguable. Quality is quite straightforward. There's good records and there's bad records. That simple!

Aren't we pushing a bit too far now?

If quality is describable only with terms as good and bad, then quality is equal to preferences and in that case quality would vary from person to person.

There are quality standards such as ISO 9001 (which of course can't be used on music!) but even those can't put aside people’s preferences, since quality is something that we as individuals “feel” about a product or something similar. Overall one could state that we as consumers do agree about quality, but when it comes to something so closely linked to pure feelings such as music, quality can differ widely from person to person.

Let me get this straight........you guys are debating the difference between quality and taste? Man, we really need a new album because we have certainly run out of things to discuss on this board.
