I'm over this topic anyway. I think we figured it out.

I was only lending evidence that HAND was not recorded entirely at Jon's house. You're making entirely more of an issue of it than it is.

Nit pick. Nit pick. Nit pick.

But you could use that same theory with Jennifer Nettles as well...

And now that I think about it, there are two main ways to record a duet. The first is for both artists to go into a studio together and sing their parts. The second is for both artist to sing the song in its entirety and they splice it together. It's apparent that Who Says was recorded the second way because Jon's vocal is the same for all 3 versions (Jon only, Jen, & Keith)...

With that said, Keith and Jen's vocals could have been recorded at any studio in the world and shipped to wherever Shanks was working

Interesting story: My friends brother worked for Fed X and would deliver to Bon Jovi's studio. He would actually deliver tracks to them with weird stuff written on the boxes to throw people off. He said Richie was the coolest. They would tip him to keep him honest. Jon actually invited him in and offered him a soda on a hot day. I think at one point they even played him something they were working on.

My point to all this is, songs are pieced together. Jon and John could be on two separate sides of the world and still piece a song together. It's not like they go into a studio, sing it live, and that's it. Hundreds of tracks could make up a song. And there are so many different stages from writing, demoing, coming up with different sounds, mastering, mixing, etc...

For what it's worth the duet of Who Says had very little band/Jon involvement. I read a few interviews where Jon just sent the files to Dan Huff and said record her and make the arrangement.

I'm not sure what stage the song was in when Keith recorded his part though.

No matter what stage the song was in, they were in the studio together. Way before we even knew there was a duet, Obie said he had video footage of them in the studio together back when he was answering questions on bonjovi.com. Also Jon has told the story multiple times on country radio stations when he did that radio call in junket after the CMT Award Win. First they played Keith some of the new songs. Then asked if he would play banjo on Who Says. Then asked if he would sing on Who Says.

Are you sure. I'd love to see proof of any of that.

http://www.cmt.com/news/1553760/bon-...lle-club-show/

When he and bandmate Richie Sambora wrote “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” which eventually became a Grammy-winning No. 1 country hit, they initially wanted to pitch the song to other artists in Nashville before ultimately keeping it for themselves. Prior to meeting Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, Bon Jovi enlisted another country star to record it.

“I was in a hotel gym and Keith Urban was in there, a couple of years ago now, and I fooled him into coming to the studio,” he says. “After the small talk I said, ‘Why don’t you go out there and play a little?’ So he played a little banjo on it. So I said, ‘Why don’t you go out there and sing a little?’ So I had my duet and I was like, ‘Heh, heh, heh. Tricked!'”

The story was repeated a LOT in that time period.

How can the "World’s Most Knowledgeable BON JOVI Fan!!!" not know that story?

And, sorry, I don't have a screen shot of Obie saying he had video of Jon and Keith in the studio together prior to our knowledge of the duet existing, but you can be DAMN SURE that's something *I* would have taken notice of, being "The World's Most Cat-Loving Bon Jovi/Keith Urban Fan."

Becky, I know the story! I'm not learning anything new from you!

They met at a hotel in Nashville which is not a hop, skip, and a jump away from LA or Jersey... the point to this whole discussion is you stating that Jon met Keith at a hotel which is proof that the album was recorded in LA because Keith doesn't live close to Jersey... However they met in Nashville so this means nothing and just keeps going in circles.

There is a missing link somewhere and you're not helping. And the fact that you brought your weird cat loving tendencies into this just makes this all the more weirder.

Either Jon is exaggerating the story and there was more time between them meeting at the gym and the actual recording or part of HAND was recorded in Nashville. That's what I'm trying to get at here. Now that I spelled it out for you, do you have anything additional to add besides cats?

FYI, I've had the prerelease of HAND probably just as long as I've had the actual album and know the Keith Urban story.
