I’ve only liked one single in twenty years (Memory). ONE FREAKING SINGLE IN 20 YRS. My bar is so low I can’t see it anymore. I know the new single won’t make me hate or dismiss the new record like it did in the past, Jon is hopeless when it comes to making/choosing the first single (he can bitch about the label's involvement as much as he wants, but I doubt they made them write Everyday, or HAND, or Follow, or…) and he has to cater to the casuals and the radio stations so I finally accepted that. I’m expecting a cross between “What’s Left of Me” and “The More Things Change” *shudders*
Being excited in the past only led to disappointment. I’ve switched from being very very optimistic about THINFS to more cautious to pretty indifferent but strangely excited at the same time. If it’s another WAN, so be it, we have BB which is what I’ve wanted since Crush. Not the whole album, of course, but a confirmation at last that the lyrics and the passion are still there. I’ve come to terms with what to expect from this band. Album wise they don’t have anything else to say and I’m perfectly fine with that. This won’t be another KTF or another Crush; being the no.1 tour for the past years almost guarantees that Jon won’t care about this new album’s sales. Which should really translate in an “artistic” album but won’t. We all know this band (ie Jon) doesn’t take risks anymore. I’d rather they concentrate in getting ready for a memorable tour FINALLY. They will drop the new songs after the first leg anyway, whether they are the best thing since the 90s or more WAN-style crap. We’ll get another Greatest Hits + LH tour, let’s face it, it has worked very well for them so why change now? Again, I’d rather have a great tour where Jon shows passion. I know we can’t have both, unfortunately (good album and good tour). Jon’s far too detached from his day job and has been for a very long time.
BTW, why do so many people think that the single is going to be an angry song? Or related to the label departure? We already had the angry-defiant songs (WDR&BB) and the serious ballad (Teardrop). They won’t beat that dead horse again, specially since
- They’re back with the label (I still can’t believe it… oh well…)
- The name of the single was announced AFTER confirming being back with the label so if they did have another angrier single it was probably discarded to “bury the hatchet”
- Jon’s new motto since TC is the dreaded “power of we” (Follow, BWC) which in my book is even worse than “life your life, stand your ground, bla bla” but it’s here to stay… The title of the new single, all that has happened, the reconciliation with the label, all points to another uplifting “the power of we is stronger than we think, we made it through it all thanks to you and me” (I may have a chorus here lol)
So yeah, the last thing I expect with THAT title is a rocker and I’m really surprised anyone would think otherwise in 2016 after the last albums/singles. Truly curious, not criticizing really

Oh come on! When a simple thing like a title from an upcoming song (things change all the time, it might not even be the first single) causes you to write such a lengthy reply with speculation that doesn't show indifference at all. Admit it, you're excited!
