That says to me even though this neighbourhood is shit I'm still sticking here cos I love this town .

But I don't really empathize with that either cos I moved 200 miles away from where I was born and I'm happy living elsewhere!

Maybe its just one I'm not going to get a feel for!
To me it sounds like he's using a house as a metaphor for the band. Putting all that work into something that can't be bought. I wonder if it was written around the time of the label troubles. If the label was going to own all their material and masters. If not about the band it's a metaphor for something I'm sure.
