Mmmm i didn’t hear anything about Desmond Child nowhere…
With Shanks helping to write a chorus like the one in Living Proof who needs Desmond Chlld, who hasn't written anything of note in forever.

I don't like Legendary, but there are people here talking like Bon Jovi should be competing with ultra-successful contemporary pop acts. Why are we even mentioning Dua Lipa or Post Malone. Opportunities missed and all that nonsense.

What opportunities? To get a few million more streams, to sell a few more thousands albums? Bon Jovi, or no major legacy act, is going to move the needle in terms of big single or album numbers.

So, what opportunities does a song like Legendary deprive? I guess if Jon wanted to announce a tour tomorrow, he would sell all the tickets he expects to sell and play all the venues he expects to play. He was playing Wembley when apathy around the band was at an all-time high.

A fantastic song would be nice, but it wouldn't change Bon Jovi's status or position.

I don't think Island Records, or JBJ are looking at numbers of how many streams and Albums will sell for "Forever" they may have a target, but it's a low one in numbers, the days of selling or streaming a song or Album in millions is over.

I think JBJ is more interested if "Forever" will be received well by fans.

my point was getting an extra 30k streams of Legendary was nothing to celebrate. They shouldn't be compared to d lipa or t swift but they can I think be compared to other legacy acts like Metallica or AD/DC as far as streaming numbers go and how the new material is being received.

Yes, and also let's not collectively pretend that Island or Jon doesn't care about album sales and streaming numbers, otherwise Burning Bridges would not happen

As a point of comparison, Lux Aeterna, the lead single from Metallica's most recent album, released April 2023, still gets 50k streams per day and has over 70m overall. Whoever made the suggestion, good comparison. They also have fewer daily listeners than Bon Jovi.

I do agree with this. Although, it is also not a loss to double the streaming numbers.

yea, I mentioned it, but there's also bands with very small fanbases like Beast In Black. Look at the streaming numbers for their latest album Dark Connection released October of 2021 and then look at the streaming numbers for 2020.

Bon Jovi is a legacy act, 5 million streams in a few moths is good.
Take the latest Def Leppard studio album f.ex, Kick (most played) has about 7 million streams and its about 2 years old

Yes, and while Metallica and AC/DC are also comparisons, it is clear those two have crossed cultural milestones and generations. They are also in the rare bracket where they draw demographics that would otherwise not be interested in that type of music.
