True, but Metallica are by no means the only band putting out stuff like this.
Deff Leppard Vault. Not a big fan of the band but have heard good things about this "virtual museum". They currently have a live Q&A scheduled with Joe Elliot and Phil Collen. I don't know how much the Vault costs.
Springsteen we know plenty about, including the Archive Series and boxes over the years.
They are not the only two of course, but I think it shows what the Experience could be.
However, I think it was you who made a good point. The JBJ Experience is not like those other products, even though it was sold as being similar. It seems to be a direct replacement for the fan club. It is giving the fan club members exactly what they want it seems.
I think the big mistake here is how the product was marketed. It was marketed as a vault, as an archive series, when it clearly is not that. I personally think the promise of a box set in two years is insulting, whether he delivers it or not.
