Lots of contracts were like that in the 80s/90s (remember credits on other people's records, such a "Jon Bon Jovi appears courtesy of Mercury Records"), which could explain why we are only getting later footage - I expect Jon negotiated a new contract at some point.

Some of the stuff that was recorded for broadcast will be owned by the respective stations/channels.

What Jon doesn't own is all of the publishing to the songs that he co-wrote. He can't simply give these songs away for free without paying the appropraite royalties, which is the only reason that I can think of for only sharing 3 songs per show?
Forgot to say that they 100% own anything recorded post Burning Bridges as they only licence the albums to Universal now, rather than Universal owning them outright like everything that came before.

Yes, the earliest was the Times Square video. What kind of surprises me (other than Jon even having mentioned an unreleased song with the words "that could actually be something for the Experience" in a video and I don't mean Halo) is that they teased it with show clips from 1987, 1994 and 2001. If they knew beforehand they couldn't go back any further for one reason or another (maybe licensing issues), then it'd be a poor move.

This is so weird. Did something change in 2002 publishing wise I wonder? It's not even like they've been doing chronologically either, it's just been skipping around. I could see them pulling something really cheap and shitty and giving us something AMAZING right before it's time to renew.

Oh had not counted that since I had seen clips from it before, but yeah that was one from earlier on. Though it's almost kind of funny that they chose the August Philly show where the main spotlight rig seemed to have a malfunction (and labeled it as February)

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if they put that teaser video out without thinking the whole project through yet. they came across this stuff and edited the video, and then when the sat down a look at what they could and couldn't legally share, and how much things were going to cost them, it was a different story. It all seems very rushed and not at all thought out, so I would say this is highly likely.

If they did post those older clips knowing full well that they may not be able to share them, than that's another story....very deceitful...

Yeah it might've been a quick shot. From what I had seen in this clip, footage might've been from pre-prepared shows, meaning parts of them were licensed by other companies: if 2001 was in fact Phoenix, then VH-1 had might've been in there for showing the first songs back then. In 1994, some Japanese station for having acquired footage of Red Bank. In 1987, MTV for having broadcasted LOAP. As you said, if they're really in on these shows, this might be where it gets tricky and where they didn't think about it beforehand.

This is a lot of shit.. RD is absolutely right, this is all rubbish. They did a teaser hinting that we would hear never-before-seen tracks, never-seen videos, a bunch of unreleased photos ... damn, they haven't even bothered to upload any more photos since November 2020. It's a disaster, and justifying this mess doesn't make sense. . It's like going to buy a pizza Pepperoni but only have 3 slices, but hey, It's still a pizza, don't complain, it's what you wanted.

Upload few things, and the things that go up for the most part are not unpublished, and the few that are, do not feel special. They have a lot of shows, they know that fans would go crazy for something weird, like Wild Is The Wind from '89 or 2001 or even 2010-2011, however they choose We Got it Going On.

8 months gone, no unreleased track. Many fans bought the subscription because we believed that we would have at least 1 unreleased track every month. That is not much to ask, it is very easy to give. But Jon is just not being generous, on the contrary, 80 dollars to watch videos of Jon telling a couple of anecdotes was not what I and many of us had in mind when he started all this.

Jon, I want my damn pepperoni, upload Halo and some unreleased songs for the love of god.

Two thoughts.

First one concerning Rolo. Honestly, you know what that reads like? The whole "the fans would have wanted this". They probably don't. I think the lesson here is that Bon Jovi as a band are about the fans who do NOT want this, and BJ as a band are everything the critics always accused them of being. And sorry to say Rolo, but you were fooled into believing they were not.

Second: If they did not think this through beforehand, that is hardly an excuse. It might explain the cluster****, but it does not justify it.

They pitched it one way and spun it in a completely diffent direction.

There are other interviews done too where comments were made like "we're opening the Vaults" and even gave specifics like the Directs Cut and a song called Halo...

This is a what come first, the chicken or the egg scenario.

Sales for this are probably disappointing so now they dont have the clout to support it the way they wanted... But if they did go all in, they would get more members because a lot held out to see what the deal was.

All they needed to do from Day 1 was put a live Soundboard of Cadillac Man out there and their memberships would have gone through the roof. Instead they fed us crap and still continue to feed us more crap.
