To be fair that lyric is a mouthful.

The other 99% of the time though...

BTW, I also heard "my eyes" - is it really "our eyes"? Strange production... I can only imagine what Shanks is doing to the vocals, since I'm able to produce crystal clear vocals with a 30 EUR microphone and a laptop with a DAW. So there must be some serious processing going on for Jon to sound the way he does, for better or worse. For example on THINFS it's almost (no, I'm certain) like the rasp is being simulated by distorting his voice (makign it too loud and let it clip or something like that). It's the first record where on different speakers and volume levels, the vocals sound either pretty good or totally doctored with. That was the case to some degree with WAN as well, but not as noticeable...
That is truly Shanks *fault* if you want. I have the impression and please somebody correct me if I'm wrong that even going back as far as HAND you can hear some unnatural rasp especially when compared to the demos. Might be my ears but the high notes on Bells Of Freedom or I Am don't sound completely raw as All About Loving You does. Of course there's always some enhancing but on the Bounce tracks I don't have any doubt it's Jon but on HAND there's that subtle echo/robotic vibe to his voice

In fairness, Shanks had a lot less to play with compared to Luke Ebbin, as Jon declined quite significantly as a singer from 2002 to 2004-2005, yet Shanks made Jon sound like a million bucks on some tracks (e.g. Bells of Freedom).

I think that at least two or three tracks on Have A Nice Day were recorded half a step lower (like they were played live) and then transposed back up again for the record. Hence Jon sounding rather artificial on some like I Am.

If you listen to the isolated vocals for Bells of Freedom you can hear the obvious cut closer to the guitar solo where it was two takes stitched together.

THINFS as an album has songs that you can tell a rasp was added. Born Again Tomorrow, God Bless this Mess and few others just sound....different then some of the other tracks that sound a bit more natural. We Don't Run is VERY guilty of it but yeah it started with HAND. Agreed that his voice wasn't in rough enough shape in 2002. It was declining from the previous era but when he did the Bounce songs live it didn't sound like a completely different style of singing.

The album that actually always stood out to me in terms of fake rasp having been added was The Circle. Tons of "raw" vocals that sounded so far away from how the songs were live.

Got one of my six CDs today from ticket master sales. Standard track listing 1 -12. No bonus tracks or new songs.

I'm thinking of throwing it right in the trash. They just can't do anything right. They are promoting 2 new songs to support the tour, you buy tickets for the tour, and the CD they send you doesn't have the songs they are promoting. WTF

I might need a Bon Jovi break for a while.

You really thought the record company would spend more money to press more cds when it still had a boatload of the originals sitting and collecting dust?

Give the CDs to friends who like the band but who don’t buy CDs anymore.
